Indeed. And also on the X-T5. I often make use of the “operational presets” myself, but wish Fuji would allow some way of setting “use existing setting” within them because right now it’s all or nothing…and switching between custom modes often requires that I make some manual adjustments according to “what I’m doing today.” For example, I might be shooting Jpegs at an event, switch to “Custom 3” because it gives me (most of) what I need right now — except it also sets the camera to shoot raw.
Shouldn't neglect to mention the new battery, which also represents a significant improvement - but yes, as inevitable this price hike was, the rise into the quadruple digits is still psychologically painful. This can't be all you got for entry-level models, Foogee...
I assume this is just the first in a raft of price increases across the board, given the used prices have risen so much - why wouldn’t Fuji cash in on that. Not particularly looking forward to that aspect of the X-Pro4 announcement when it comes…
Lets not forget that we still going through an economic crisis, where inflation has been in the two digits for quite some time in many countries/regions. Everything has gone up in price.
Well, just last year they kept T5 at 1699....H2 was only 100 more than T1 but with 2 generations sensor and processor and HS2 was a stacked sensor so price justified.
A 30% increase using a 2018 sensor ,well I dont think thats good business.
A Canon R8 doesn't have IBIS but is FF,highly capable and only 200 more. The crop Canons are better value than this S20.I'm disappointed on re use of old sensor AND the price.Definitely won't be upgrading.
Bad thing? No not at all. It provides market segmentation and I expect greater capability that a reduced cost. Seems Fujifilms learned its lesson about
market segmentation. Clearly the XH2/XH2S is the top camera followed by the XT5 and the XS20 the next tier down.
I think it is interesting. Waiting to see how the autofocus is with the new processor. Pretty healthy price jump from the X-S10 if the rumors are correct. I owned a X-S10 for a while, but really didn't get along with the PASM dial & small viewfinder. Switched to an X-T4 & don't see me moving again.
Yes it feels like Fuji are looking at the soaring used prices for Fuji gear and looking to get in on that.. except most of those sky high prices are for the retro rangefinder style models, not DSLR-style PASM-toting vlogging cameras.
I imagine the remaining stock of XS10’s are going to get hoovered up pretty quick as they look fantastic value in comparison.
It was announced for end of June and DPreview already has a preliminary writeup. Looks good for video applications. If it has any drawbacks other than not 40Mp, I didn't notice them.** Should we open a new thread to discuss?
P.S. ** Yup, no HEIF output, not weather sealed.
P.P.S. "No HEIF" was based on DPreview's side-by-side. Thanks for the correction, AlanSh.
