Any suggestions on how to improve the wake from sleep speed on the X-T5?
It's not terrible, but it's not great either.
Thanks,
Joe

Same issue on my X-Pro3, so I'll be curious to see if there is a solution.
Edit: sorry, my issue is going from "off" to "firing the shutter". Which is significantly slower than my other camera.
And how long do you estimate his awakening?
Make sure Boost mode is on, full-press the shutter button.
Thanks.
Yes, the Boost mode is on and I am doing a full press of the shutter button.
I haven't timed it. It just takes longer than the Canon R5 and R3 that I'm used to.
Probably just something I have to get used to. I just wanted to be sure that there isn't any setting that would slow it down provided the boost mode is on.
I compensate for it by setting a longer time before it goes into sleep mode. However, it still catches me off guard every now and then, and I miss a shot.
Its “start-up period” (which I think is from sleep) is 0.49 of a second per the specs.

The canon R5 is indeed faster at 0.4 of a second….. call it a 10th of a second faster. But I would not think that would be noticeable.

How long is your Fuji taking to startup?
I just checked, and I would estimate with the chronometer of my iPhone, between 0.5 and 0.8 seconds
You might try a different card or combination of cards
I've been shooting both cameras for a while now and the X-T5 is slower. It could be that you have to do a full press on the Fuji and only a half press on the Canon that makes the Canon seem faster.
I'm not interested in having a Canon v. Fuji war.
I'm just trying to find the settings that get the X-T5 awake the fastest.
Thanks.
My XT5 starts up from sleep pretty quickly. I am used to half pressing, yes half pressing the shutter button as I start to bring the camera from the carry position up to my eye. By the time it is at my eye it is ready for action. Not an issue for me.
Have you tested with several lenses?
Good point, I read somewhere that some Tamron lenses in particular where slow to initialize.
On my X-T4 there is a User Setting to control sensor cleaning – I have it set to clean when switched off only. Is there a similar setting on the X-T5? (Sensor cleaning happens on wake from sleep too, at least on my X-T4).
I've taken to turning the sleep feature off. I use a battery grip yet one can carry an extra battery or two if necessary.

Have we had a Canon v Fuji war here yet? It might be a way to generate some additional input. I really want this forum to gain in popularity. Good luck to us all and happy shooting (not the war-like shooting but rather camera shooting)
Yes. All Fuji lenses. Not a noticeable difference.
Thanks.
Thanks. I'm considering that. I have enough batteries.
Thanks. That doesn't affect the wake from sleep though.
Seems like the best way for me too. 👍🏻
