So it seems almost a certainty that the XS20 will be announced at Fuji’s forthcoming x-Summit, now expected in May.

The latest rumour (from FR) is that it’ll come with the newer, bigger WP-235 battery, which I guess makes sense as it has the grip to fit it
    - I wonder if this will mean sacrificing any weight or size though?

Anyone champing at the bit for an upgrade?

It’s almost certain to be heavier — though not by enough to trouble me. I view camera weight as a range, not an absolute. I’m not champing, but will be interested in improvements to auto focus subject/eye detection, acquisition, and tracking. Still contemplating an XHseries, but I’m in no rush either way. These improvements serve only a small percentage of a subset of my photography. Most of street and reportage is done with the X100V. The X-S10 meets the vast majority of my ILC needs very well.

Not me, I am very well served with X-T3 and X-T4. It would be nice if Fuji would gradually convert to the new battery in all cameras, as they are replaced. It lasts a lot longer than the older one.

My X-S10 does everything I need a camera to do. I plan to use it until the camera no longer functions I carry a spare battery but the number of times I've had to use in the past two years is in the single digits.

I wonder whether Fuji might take the opportunity to rename this new body? I think it was clear when the XS10 came out that it was a bit of a mini XH1, but the choice of PASM made it stand out as something different at the time.

Now that the XH2/s are closer to being an embiggened XS10 rather than a straight copy of the XH1 in design, perhaps the XS10 successor will become the XH20, to fall in line with the XH line as per the XTx0/XTx etc? Just a thought.

I'd quite like an XS 20 to go with my X-T5. Gives a different type of shooting (assuming PASM/fully articulating screen/flash) and yet with the latest kit.

But I will wait to see the price and features.

Interestingly enough the XH2 is a little smaller and lighter than the XH1. The form factor is similar but the XH2 is much better thought out. So Fuji was able to fit the larger battery into the XH series without increasing size and weight. The XT5 is about the size and weight as the XT3 although the XT5 has the larger battery. That larger battery is well worth it! It will be interesting to she how the XS update shakes out.

This is something I would like to see as well to go with my X-T5. Weather resistance and the WP-235 battery would be welcome, too.

Same here, I wouldn't want a bigger or heavier camera, I'm not sure what they could improve on the X-S10 that would get my attention, it really is a very complete and capable little camera, in my opinion it's a masterpiece of design.

Same battery would be more than welcome.
For a short period I had two cameras with different batteries. Means you had to carry more spares. My old type batteries are getting really old anyway

FR reported this morning that the new XS10 will use the XTrans IV sensor (25 MP) and using the Generation V processor. So the same sensor as the
SX20 but the higher speed processor. That seems like a pretty good compromise and should allow the AF enhancements of the 5th generation to be carried over while maintain cost. It also seems by doing this Fujifilm is going further to delineate the differences in the lines. If Fuji would add a few gaskets and seals along with the new battery to the XS10 it should be a good entry level camera.

May I ask where I can find this information? Any link?

FR=Fujirumors, it’s literally the only place reliable Fuji rumours ever come from. Search and you shall find.

The sensor news is an interesting development, the first time since the XM1 that Fuji will be pairing an older sensor with a newer processor. In fact this fifth generation of Fujis will be unique in having not one, not two, but three different sensors used in models of the same vintage. We can probably expect the fourth gen sensor in the XT40 and XE5 too, assuming either comes.

Too bad, I would love to see that camera have a Bayer sensor. I can’t get over the original X 100 colors. I haven’t seen anything that looks quite like that colour rendition.

It sort of makes sense. You don't NEED a 40mp sensor. What is good is version 5 of the firmware/chipset. If it helps keep the cost down, I'm all for it.

I think my only interest in the X-S20 coming out is that a used X-S10 drops in price even lower. I will buy one as my small IBIS fuji until the next generation X-Pro is comes out (presumably with IBIS).

I'm definitely interested in it to complement my X-T3, and to satisfy my budding interest in video. I shoot mostly ooc jpegs with some light post-editing, so some of the newer film sims are also of interest. I also pay attention to any timelapse-friendly features, such as Exposure Smoothing and (so far only in the X-T5) Interval Priority mode. If Fuji finally implements in-camera timelapse video rendering, then they can take my money 💸🙂
