Yesterday along the River

Didn't have time to process these yesterday (4/16) and one never can be quite certain what will be found there .. Today a barge was passing coming down the river …

and I believe this is my favorite heron who the fishermen have named Mooch...

Optimistic … he did get one small fish but not enough to keep him until we returned later

Other activities such as bike riders didn't pose or I just didn't perform … all of the pictures here were taken with the M1.1 and the old 50-200mm lens ..

BTW .. just as an aside I am using Windows 10 on my computer .. but as I sit here Windows is telling me that it is in the process of downloading Window 11 – uninvited and I'm working off-line I guess MS got tired of asking me if I want it!!!!. …. and I've always suspected that Windows goes on line uninvited … well …. cynicism. ….. But I guess I'll soon be using Window 11 whether I like it or not ...

Mighty river. Not what I'm used too.

A nice set of pictures, WhyNot. Nice color in them. I like that heron. There's a big, photogenic one like yours here that likes to fish in a convenient place to photograph along the Eureka waterfront, but it's behavior is the opposite of that one. It will perch on a pylon 50 feet out in the water, but it will fly if I come to the shore. If yours will work for food, you ought to take a can of jack mackerel with you. Rich

Nice to have a heron you can count on to cooperate WN.

It is raining here with a mix of wet snow thrown in for 'good measure'. It was 2 C when we were out earlier and two days ago it was 26! The magnolia is out in full bloom as are the daffodils. We may get frost this week but I hope not because that will turn the magnolia brown.

As to Windows 11, I installed it on my machine shortly after I did the rebuild. It left me alone for a while but it has been installing unwanted 'improvements' now for the past six months. Windows 11 has hidden a bunch of things I use. They are still there but now more difficult to use. All in the name of making things easier. They are trying to link up computers/laptops/phones etc but that is not a feature I want.

..Thanks for stopping by Charlotte ... yes the Tennessee is a big river that has been mostly tamed in the 30's when TVA came in and built a series of dams It flows north from here and empties into a larger river ...

Good to hear from you again Rich .... There are about three resident heron that I usually work with ... maybe a couple more .. most sit across some body of water or bit further away than this one ... and many are skittish if you come up above them on the shore line ... not sure feeding them is a good idea .... even this one is a proficient fisherman when he can't get something the easy way ....

I think they have hidden things with every new Windows edition ... I usually find them as they can't completely do without but then maybe some day they'll insist on a subscription and will remotely fix problems with tools they've taken away ... I haven't read anything that makes me want to add Windows 11 .. MS wants to us on-line constantly and likes to track us ... Also I gather they've fixed the Toolbar to the bottom of the screen, ala Apple .. I Prefer it on the right and have always been ab;le to move it there.. not sure why MS fixed it .. If they have ...

I can't believe how cooperative that heron is WN. There's plenty herons around our coast but they fly off as soon as they spot you. Your shot of the heron in close proximity to the lady is a great capture.
