So, out of all the pictures you have taken, which one (just one) would you think is the best and would win awards if only the judges agreed with you? Feel free to add comments as to why it's the best one. And maybe comment how hard it is to choose just one.

This is one I really like. I think the colours do it justice and I was amazed howwell the light trail worked.

I like your shot a lot, works really well and adds a lot of dimension to the image, which is a great fit, given that they seem to be walking. Excellent work!

I thought it would be way harder to be honest, but actually I think it might be this one:

    A spoonful of bokeh!
    by simple.joy, on Flickr

a.) It's simple enough, so I probably won't hate either the idea or the execution in a another couple of months
b.) I feel like I chose the correct lens for the task (which isn't always easy, when you're trying to experiment with a couple of lenses)
c.) it features a type of experimentation with light and DOF which I'm generally very fond of

I don't think it would win any awards in any type of competition, because I found my own perception and judgement to be significantly different from what official judges and professionals usually prefer.

And by the way: If you or anyone else who might post a favorite shot here have any interest in also showing us the "runner-ups" please head over to this thread I've created in order to celebrate "World Photography Day" and show us your favorite 5 images (either from the last 12 months, or even further back, if you so choose!) I'd be interested to see them.

This is my favourite image from the last 12 months, or at least it is my favourite today. Taken on Clashtoll beach, NW Scotland, on a very windy evening. The major problem was sheltering from the wind as it was shaking the camera making longish exposures like this a blurry mess. Ken

Wow - that's fantastic! It seems to have been worth it though defying the elements as it looks spectacular with (what I assume to be increased spray in the air) and those wonderfully shaped clouds as well. 👍

Really difficult to chose and it sure my choice will not win any awards. But I really wanted to visit this place and take this shot of Wells Cathedral.

    The Riedinger Waterfalls
In the Hochkönig region of Austria

    DSC_3351 edit.JPG

I've taken numerous hikes to these waterfalls, and while they may not boast the same breathtaking beauty or power as some of the other waterfalls I've captured, there's an indescribable charm about them that uplifts my spirit each time I visit. It's the sensation of being enveloped by towering mountains that truly sets them apart.
I doubt you can truly grasp that feeling just by viewing a picture, but hope you like it anyway :-)

I got it down to five.

Three are Haikus. Examples of minimalist simplicity. They all work, but it’s impossible to pick a favorite amongst them. The fourth is social commentary. Interesting in and of itself, but it doesn’t really work without the title: Interpreting the United States Army to an Ojibwa at Historic Fort Snelling. If it needs the title it fails as a photograph by my own rule set. (Though it may be tested yet by a salon judge in September because it fits the Through the Window topic.)

    Which leaves us with this…

    Public Art Interaction.jpg

A moment captured from a bright, but bitterly cold, walk through the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. My not quite completely dry bronze Krylonmist filter is screwed onto the lens for its trial run (in less-than-ideal conditions.) I was lining up yet another shot of the Spoonbridge Cherry (#4,654,358), when these two hooligans, ignoring several posted signs, ran into the frame to climb on the art. Saving me from cliché (if not mediocrity) and, at least in my eyes making the picture.

Moments later they noticed I was taking pictures. Being their mother’s obedient sons, media trained since birth, they stopped playing long enough to pose properly for the camera. I go back and forth as to which of the two pictures is my favorite from the (otherwise unremarkable) day.

Next, I use Mom’s Samsung phone to make a portrait of the entire family flagerlantly violating the Minneapolis Statuate that prohibits climbing on the statuary. Hey, I’m not the boss of them.

Edit to add…I may have just this moment shortened the title of the Fort Snelling photo to White-Mansplaining (to an Ojibwa). (Or maybe I need the Ojibwa word describing my people.)

I love my dog but have only posted a few in the pets thread. I am pretty sure she had been bitten on the tongue by an ant here - unless she licked something totally objectionable. I have a series of shots where she had her tongue out, shaking her head etc. You can see some froth on her chin.
When looking through my other shots there was a good one of a bird I hadn't posted before, but I chose this one because it is one of my better ones of her showing her colours, coat. etc.

I may have taken it today. Not sure. My daughter & I were out mountain biking, stumbled across this when heading back to the car. We both looked at each other, & said wow, very cool.

I took this of the Karlskirche (St. Charles Borromeo Church) in Vienna at the beginning of June this year at 7:30pm. I used my Laowa 12mm lens at f/11, 1/200s, ISO 100. Some of the EXIF data is rubbish, as this is a manual focus lens.

Wonderful image! I don't live too far away from that region, but I've never been to these waterfalls. Have you ever visited the Krimmler falls? I remember visiting those as a child and they're pretty spectacular as well, although not too close because they're in Salzburg.

Hey, if you got five favorites and want to show them, you're still more than welcome to do that here:

A very nice shot with somewhat muted but wonderful tones and a real retro-feel. I would say that the colors of the background and the kids clothes match up so perfectly is 'the cherry on top'. 😉 It's always a magic moment when kids don't realize that someone has a camera. Great that you were able to use that small window.

Wonderful and scary at the same time... hope you're not feeling too bad! The shot is very elegant though and the light quite impressive!
