    Hi all,

As you can see by my postings, I'm back from vacation. I was actually back a few days ago, but I needed extra time to get back to my regular routine and to post process many photos. Plus I've been busy taking more pictures. I was actually recently taking photos on three different days. We have a once-a-year event, that I didn't want to miss. Because once it's gone, it doesn't come back until next July.

    Subject: Lake Tahoe Sunset

I took these photos at Lake Tahoe while on my summer vacation. For those that don't know, Lake Tahoe is in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, on the California and Nevada border.. It's a very popular resort destination.

Photo No. 1 - There was one particular day, in which we had a nice group of clouds to create these scenes.

Thanks, I do blame the fungi also on the rainy weather, today it's again a day with a lot of rain......

    Welcome back 😉
Well those 600mm photos will be the last for a while. The Sigma had some wobbling lately between the focus ring and the rear barrel part
Found out today that my trusty Sigma has broken some internal mounting points between the different barrel parts. did a disassembly to find out it can't be fixed.
So that lens is out of order and a big paperweight....
We will get another one but for now 400mm (or 560 with a 1.4x TC) will be enough 😏

Alll excellent shots! I like these two in particular. The composition and very effective simplicity in the B&W shot make these my favorites.

26 miles (40km?) Is indeed a long walk.
Some great pics there. The flower and damsel fly are particularly nice.

    Hi Dig,
Thank you. No patience at all involved. I was photographing the ducks just swimming calmly in the water while waiting for something else interesting to fly by when it suddenly decided to take off. Just lucky was all. 😀

    Cheers
    Paul

    Subject: Mt. Shasta

On the way to Lake Tahoe we drove by Mt. Shasta. It's a little over 14,000 feet in elevation. We didn't have forest fire smoke this year, so the conditions were pretty much ideal. I took these as a passenger in a car, through the window glass. Because we were moving at highways speeds, I had to use a high shutter speed.

I've been playing with my computer program and now am able to add in an extra space for the EXIF data. It has been a fun thing for me to do, since I don't write code in that language very much. So I just hack away with whatever knowledge I have to get it to work. I wrote it for my CanonT7i, Canon 800D and Canon M50 MKII cameras. The Canon M50 MKII EXIF data had two different varieties, with one weird temperature reading of more than 120C. So I wrote code to remove it in my MS Word document, so the EXIF data then was consistently the same.

Photo No. 1 - This gives you all a perspective of how the mountain looks like from the highway.

    Subject: Black Bird

It was surprising, but on my vacation I actually got a good wildlife photo of a bird with only 200mm focal length. On the first one, I had to crop it although to avoid a distracting branch. With the second picture, I only cropped it a little for the same reason.

Here's the story. I was walking along by the South Lake Tahoe casinos when a bird attacked me. Fortunately I was wearing a hat, so it did not hurt. I looked around and saw this Brewer's Blackbird on a nearby tree. I had to encourage it to move to a branch that would give me the best pictures. I hope you like these two.

    Hi Digirame,

Those sunsets are stunning, I particularly like Photo 4 and photo 9 you caught the 'Magic hour'. Super Job on your Blackbird especially at 200mm. Sometimes we can be lucky and be able to use a smaller Zoom if we dont spook them.

    Hi fotoword, Thank You.

Over a few days I would walk most of that Canal, but would drive and park up in strategic places in order to cover the length of the canal. The Macclesfield Canal is a particularly pretty canal that runs through much woodland.
