Seems David is busy or not available, and Digirame also. 😜
But It's time for a new weekly thread:

This weekly thread is principally intended for you to show others the photos made with Canon cameras of all sorts: SLR, DSLR, Mirrorless, M-series, APS-C, film, etc. But ALL brands of camera will be accepted, including photos taken with your phone. We do enjoy reading an accompanying text explaining your photo and any special techniques you may have used. Comments and helpful criticisms on others' photos are also welcome: we can all learn something from each other. We look forward to seeing YOUR photos.

A new thread for the following week will be posted next Saturday around 10 pm UK time.

David, Digirame (and I) will be active here and are sharing the hosting, but we hope that all will join in and comment on others' photos.

Thread title has been changed from Your Canon Photos No. 14: 6th August 2023 to 12th August 2023.

Let me start the new thread with some photos
Between the rainy moments we had a few moments without rain. Didn't plan any hikes so just a short (7km) stroll around our neighborhood. 😆
And also wanted to see how the Canon EF 28-300 mm F/3.5-5.6 L IS USM performed on our Canon Eos R
It performs great on a R series body but balance is not perfect, The 28-300 needs a heavier body like our 5DIV and 1V HS.

    Thanks for creating the thread.

That's some great shots! I particularly like the last two, very beautiful light in both of those. I've heard that the shoes on trees were initially a secret sign for places you can buy drugs at, but I guess (if it has ever been true) this meaning is long gone, and people just do that for fun.

@simplejoy, I do like coffee, a nice warm cup of coffee on a rainy day. 😁
Actually not only as a beverage but also I do develop with Coffee (Caffenol) 😉

Those shoes are just a funny thing at a local skate/bmx park. And only that chestnut tree is used.

Thanks very much, Photobygms, for stepping in and starting the new thread! I very mich appreciate your kindness. I dont know why, but it just slipped my mind last night — sorry... I am proud to be part of a community that helps each other in this way!

The first and that finch are my favorites. Am i correct to assume you are located just below Manchester? How the region like?

    Hi Photobygms, Thank You.

I live pretty much where the 'A6' sign is just above 'Chapel-en-le-Frith' on the map below, a few years back I lived where you see the place on the map called 'Marple', this is well known for its Canals, the High Peak Forest Canal the Peak Forest Canal which goes into Manchester and the Macclesfield Canal run through Marple and I walked them all although my favourite is the Macclesfield. I still visit them all though less frequently, they're full of photo opps.

    Photobygms,

I liked seeing the heron. You remind me that I need to get out more often with my Tamron 150-600mm lens and start finding some also.

Under a bridge is a perfect place to hide from the rain. 😀

I enjoyed seeing the shoes hanging from a tree. There's used to be a tree like that, north of Reno, Nevada filled with shoes. But someone cut the tree down later, saying something like the tree had died or was dying.

    Simplejoy,

It's good to see that you took more pictures, while it was raining. Since I live in a rainy location (except for the summer months) I make it a point to keep taking pictures in the rain with an umbrella. Fortunately, most of the time we do not have a lot of windy storms, so using a large umbrella is a great way for me to do it.

    Mocha,

You canal pictures are always interesting. Those are great photos of the bird and the flowering plant. I just love seeing that fruit fly...wow...that's terrific.

Just before I took my vacation to Northern California, I had a chance to see a lavender festival. I hope you like seeing this series.

    Weird Bush

I ran across this bush. I have no idea what it is.

It's not a weed, and it's not a tree. I'm going to keep my eye on it and see if these turn red or something.

PS: I've just been informed that this is "winged sumac" or "shining sumac". It's a member of the cashew family of all things.
