    Paul (fotoword),

I liked seeing your bird pictures. The cormorant was especially interesting. It's a different species than what I'm seeing in Oregon.

That's an expansive view of a sprawling town.

Beautiful image of the Canals and nice to learn about the history. Swimming with the Swans sounds like it might be fun (unless you get too close).
Good to see they put the effort into mitigating the flooding issues, I imagine they would have made a lot of the residents very relieved and happy.

    Cheers

    David,

That's an interesting city, with its rivers and bridges and buildings. I noticed also wind mills. Our wind mills are far from our cities, on the east side of the Cascade Range..

    Hi GMS
Given the conditions, it's great that you were able to get out there and get those beautiful shots of the countryside, that alone is very inspiring.
The butterfly shot is gorgeous as well.

    Cheers

    David,

I didn't want to confuse anyone by saying something different, so I'll start with what I wrote previously that it would be best under photo sharing. As Steve had mentioned on this thread, why not keep this photo sharing under Canon as we had done before? At least call it photo sharing.

    The last thread I said:

    "Steve,

I agree. Critiques and challenges can be stressful in themselves, just like competitions. In my former life at Dpreview, I would only critique photos if asked and I would let them know it was only my opinion. I have found out through the years, that there's many opinions out there and they are not the same.

When a person views other photos, it can give them ideas. They can see how others do things, so they can "critique" themselves that way and make adjustments. They could also ask for critiques if they would like (again but only if asked). But all of that is also my opinion. 😀

Dprevived would make this better by putting our Canon Photo thread under photo sharing. We not only share our subject matter and composition, but we also share the equipment that we use and how we are able to do it. For example, recently I found that I could take my photos of things that were at the back of a moving car using the tilt screen, (while being a passenger in a car). Those were of Mt. Shasta. I saw Mt. Shasta at the back and I didn't want to strain my neck to get those pictures, nor do anything dangerous by sticking my head out of the car. The solution was to use the tilt screen. I'll be taking more pictures that way, now that I have learned that lesson. Where are we going to find that kind of information in an instruction manual? 😀"

    Hi Dig,
Lake Tahoe looks beautiful with those majestic mountains as a backdrop. I can see why you enjoy being there and the no doubt countless photo opportunities it would present.

That night shot is great with the moon even though the iso was high.
I have the M5 (not the M50) and had used it on a couple of overseas trips and it was a great camera with very nice and small lenses.

    Cheers

    Paul,

Thanks. Yes, I do have many other photos from our trip to Lake Tahoe. I'll just have to find time to submit them. After my vacation I also have been taking photos multiple times each week too. It's my own fault that I'm so busy. 😀

This is my favorite shot - a lot of interesting things to look at with the two differently colored streams, the buildings and their arrangement, showing Vienna clearly as a city which has grown over a long period of time etc. The composition works well, it's unfortunate that the sky is so grey (I'd crop a significant part of that...) and it looks slightly hazy, but it's still quite impressive to see how much green there is, at least in this part of the city. Excellent work!

    Simplejoy,

Thank you! There is green all over the city. The view here is of only a small part of it. Personally, I think there are too many new buildings going up. I have known Vienna since 1980 and only now is it beginning to change drastically, unlike London, which I grew up in and now hardly recognise.

Thanks, Digi. Nearly all the windmills on my photo are about 25 miles out of the city — a 35 minute drive, so not very close.

I think it sounds good, but (I think) probably unlikely to happen any time soon, seeing as the whole structure was just re-arranged.
If it would please, I could start replying to the original Your Canon Photos threads with a list of all our previous previous threads, every week.

I really like this set Digirame, brilliant photos.

FWIW, a few weeks ago my oldest sister moved to California. She's spending a couple of years there, working on a qualification she can't get anywhere else.

    Dunlin,

Thanks. I mostly showed pictures of when we had clear skies There were a few hazy days too, when we first arrived there. I hope your sister enjoys California. I think it's much better outside the cities, but we often have to be near the work centers. Of course, now that some of us are working remote, people can move to the nicer less congested areas. If she visits Lake Tahoe in the summer, she should be prepared for lots of crowds on the weekend. California is very large, about 1.6 times the size of the UK.
