This weekly thread is principally intended for you to show others the photos made with Canon cameras of all sorts: SLR, DSLR, Mirrorless, M-series, APS-C, film, etc. BUT all brands of camera will be accepted, including photos taken with your phone. We do enjoy reading an accompanying text explaining your photo and any special techniques you may have used. Comments and helpful criticisms on others' photos are also welcome: we can all learn something from each other. We look forward to seeing your photos.

A new thread for the following week will be posted next Saturday around 10 pm UK time.

Digirame and I will be active here and are sharing the hosting, but we hope that all will join in and comment on others' photos.

Please keep an eye open here for possible news of a new location for our threads during this week.

It's a bit late for me, but I thought I'd try to share sooner this time round.
This is a (I think young) Grey Squirrel, taken a few minutes walk away from my house. OOC JPG, resized in Digikam.

    Dunlin,

Those are good captures of the squirrel. That's especially hard to do at 150mm focal length (even though you have a crop factor of 2x). Sometimes I may get wildlife with my 55-200mm EF-M lens. It's a combination of being at the right place at the right time and being careful to not scare them away.

    Mocha,

I liked seeing your nature photos. That's neat you captured a female Mandarin duck. I normally do not find female wood ducks (which as you know look similar) until October. Yesterday I finally got out looking for wildlife also. Mostly in the summer there are events and traveling that keeps me occupied with taking those kinds of photos instead.

    I really enjoy photography.

It lets you peer through the doorway to another world:

    img_left tutn_0316.JPG

Or it lets you marvel at the symmetry of what lies at your very feet.

The sumac is starting to turn now. I bet it will turn a bright orange before it's done.

@Dunlin lovely squirrel, again a reminder to our roadtrip through AB en BC in Canada back in 2019 We did see a lot of squirrels during the hikes.
Right now they are fighting with the many wildfires in BC, think a lot of wildlife will not survive....

@mocha123, also again some nice photos form the UK. I did only visit the Highlands almost 10 years ago. Stayed in Corpach near Fort William, but your photos show the UK has a lot more to offer than that nothern part we visited 😉

@Digirame I do like those county fair photos, but we (my betterhalf and I) prefer less noisy and flashy surroundings, we both are sensitive to sensory overload and overstimulation ( If that's correct English?)

@stevet1 Nice ones, Looking down to the marbles is a nice example with a different point of view 😉

And with in a few minutes I'll post also a few fresh pictures

A perfect and sunny day with only a few friendly clouds.
Visited National Park Dwingelderveld again for a hike, a reasonable large nature reserve in our province where we live
Decided to visit the more northwestern part with includes the Zandveen area.
We do like this reserve because it has a lot hiking trails to offer through the different parts of the reserve.

    Photobygms,

Thanks Your English is perfect. Yes, I typically try to stay away from too much noise at these fairs (as much as possible). That would be unless it would be necessary to take a photo. These summer fairs only last about one to two weeks (depending on the location) so I tolerate the noise to be able to collect some neat pictures.

I like the diversity of plant life that you find. There's flowers, grasslands and forest. You also had beautiful blue sky. We now lost our blue sky to wildfire smoke.

@Digirame, we might have a flat (sort of) country, the most (99 %) of Netherlands will not go above about 300mm with only one high hill in the southern part (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaalserberg)
but we do have a nice variety of nature with some forests heath lands, grasslands, some wetlands en our Wadden islands/sea (whc.unesco.org/en/list/1314)
We still do discover new areas to visit

I mentioned in an other reply in this thread about the Wildfires in Western Canada (BC and AB) It's sad to see the news reports form the different areas we have visited in 2019.

Edit: about those blue skies, I did use a NiSi CPL filter😋

    Photobygms,

Thanks for letting us know about the filter. That's good to hear that you enhanced your pictures that way.

Yeah, I haven't researched yet about our wildfires. Two days ago, I could see a little smoke. Today, it's much worse. We have that yellow color cast and you can smell it. It makes it a little cooler I think. So the temperatures were nice.

This is what I saw yesterday:

It seems that the female Mandarins stay at home to rear the young whilst the boys go partying. I'll keep my eyes open for the males return. 😀

    Hi Digirame,

I like how you capture the excitement of the fair in your photos. The one for me that captures the fun and enjoyment the most is photo 16, excellent.
