This weekly thread is principally intended for you to show others the photos made with Canon cameras of all sorts: SLR, DSLR, Mirrorless, M-series, APS-C, film, etc. BUT all brands of camera will be accepted, including photos taken with your phone. We do enjoy reading an accompanying text explaining your photo and any special techniques you may have used. Comments and helpful criticisms on others' photos are also welcome: we can all learn something from each other. We look forward to seeing your photos.

A new thread for the following week will be posted next Saturday around 10 pm UK time.

Digirame and I will be active here and are sharing the hosting, but we hope that all will join in and comment on others' photos.

AlanSh understands our request to locate these threads in such a way that they can be easily recalled in the future. He has an idea of how to do it and asks us to be patient for a few weeks! (He was on vacation last week.)

I had one more go at the 120 metre wide ÖBB building this morning, having finally figured out the optimum sun position. Although it was a Sunday, there was just as much traffic as during the week, and it was noticeable that, despite the different timetable, trams came by more frequently than when I have been waiting for them during the week. The wires are irritating and maybe one day I shall make an attempt to remove them all in Photoshop...

    Panorama2-a2.jpg

For those who didnt see my earlier attempts, this is made from three shots, two of them shifted left/right by means of the Laowa 15mm shift lens, then stitched together. As the lens is manual focus with no EXIF data, the above is mostly incorrect: 1/1000 s, f/11, ISO 500.

For comparison, my two earlier versions are here.

    David,

I had heard that horse chestnuts are poisonous. Being the first one, is that a sign that autumn is near?

    Simplejoy,

The brown leaves look great with the white or light-colored backgrounds. It isolates them and we don't have distracting elements.

    David,

Wow...great job. Yes, the wires are annoying but I kind of like them. They are that imperfection to a perfect photo that makes it all that more real.

Thanks, DIgi. Due to the constant traffic and pedestrians, it was quite a frustrating experience: when I got home I was certain that I had nothing worth working on. So that it came out so well was a welcome surprise.

Though I agree the removal of the wires would probably be a good thing.

    Subject: Beach Volleyball

Last month in August when I saw the coastal fog, it was the weekend of beach volleyball at Seaside, Oregon. Fortunately, the fog did not interfere with the volleyball photography. In years past it could come in, making everything more difficult to see.

Photo No. 1 - This is a general scene of the volleyball courts they set up in the sand. Next I will follow with a few photos from this event.

    Most excellent exposure.

As far as the wires go, why bother with Photoshop? Just go over there and cut those suckers down!

And already many nice shots from everybody.
We're still in Mullerthal, Luxemburg and the temperatures are still hitting those 30s (Celsius)
And today was a relaxing so only a few from a short hike yesterday again in a small valley with a nice thick forest to provide some cool shade

And a cool cave "Huel Lee" this is a man-made cave where millstones were cut out of the rocks.
And while it was nice and cool there were no good options for a wider shot to many hikers and tourists

    Subject: Wood Ducks

This past Friday and Saturday I was able to find more Wood Ducks. They are still making it difficult for me, but I did manage to get a few of them I liked. I hope you do too.

Photo No. 1 - I took this photo on Saturday. I wanted to show you all how pretty it is this summer, where I find the Wood Ducks. The Wood Ducks swim in this pond and in another one. The lily plants seen at the bottom eventually will go dormant, so the leaves will not be there during the autumn and winter. Meanwhile, the lily plant leaves make it challenging for me to get good photos. I'd rather not have these distracting elements.

Photo No. 2 - This was also taken on Saturday. It was heavily cropped but I noticed that it was sharp and it was my only female duck in this series. The Wood Ducks were making it the hardest for me that day. It was a better day on Friday.
