This weekly thread is principally intended for you to show others the photos made with Canon cameras of all sorts: SLR, DSLR, Mirrorless, M-series, APS-C, film, etc. BUT all brands of camera will be accepted, including photos taken with your phone. We do enjoy reading an accompanying text explaining your photo and any special techniques you may have used. Comments and helpful criticisms on others' photos are also welcome: we can all learn something from each other. We look forward to seeing your photos.

A new thread for the following week will be posted next Saturday around 10 pm UK time.

Digirame and I will be active here and are sharing the hosting, but we hope that all will join in and comment on others' photos.

These were done in black and white.

Full moon on 09/30/23. Spot metered .

    Picture# 1 Taken with 55-250mm lens, at 225mm. 1/500ss ISO 320. Cropped and enlarged 100%.

    img_left tutn_0435.JPG

Yay! I finally got one in focus!

Picture# 2. Taken at 70mm. It's full of noise at 12800 ISO and 1/3 of a second, but I kind of like the starburst effect.

    Simplejoy,

I immediately liked seeing the little plant. It's great to see new life. That is close to the peanut. I haven't eaten those out of a shell in a long time.

    Steve,

In the first picture that's a great one of the moon, considering that it is so heavily cropped. Maybe for the second photo of the moon, you could overlay it with another image.

    Subject: Oregon State Fair

On the second day of September I went to the Oregon State Fair in Salem. It started out with some sunshine, but quickly changed to rain. There was some lightning which resulted in some of the rides being closed for a while. I hope you like this series.

Photo No. 1 - I knew the sunshine was not going to last long so I snapped a few of these photos of the fairgrounds.

So finally some time again 😃
Holiday is over since a week or two, but still busy with developing films I shot in Luxemburg.
And this weekend also our first short hike again in our own region.

    But first:
@simplejoy as usual some nice photos, but saw them on flickr already 😉
@stevet1, Love the black/white look on the night shots
@Digirame, again some nice shots from a crowded location. It does remind to our own TT fair (TT kermis) every year during the Dutch TT week
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_TT and www.ttcircuit.com/evenementen/motul-moto-gp

And for now a few from our hike yesterday:
Mother nature is confused I think, on one hand you see the leaves turning yellow/orange/brown on the other hand some flowers are starting to bloom again....
Mushrooms are also showing up and temperatures are still to high we still having temperatures in the 20s (celcius)

We have used all our digital cameras again with a small selection of lenses

    Canon Eos R - Canon RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM

    Photobygms,

That's neat that you used four cameras with a selection of lenses for these pictures. That's amazing you took all of them on your hike. Which camera is your favorite? I thought you also has a Canon R8, but that was Paul (Fotoword). Here in the US, I believe that the price dropped about $240 to $1460 (USD) for a Canon R8 (from one reputable seller).

The conditions we have in Oregon are pretty much the same. We still have flowers and some leaves are starting to turn yellow. I like your photo of the yellow flower the best.

    @Digirame.
Thanks but not all the credits are for me,😋 my better half does use the RP and 6D II normally and I use the 5D IV and R.
The R8 might be a replacement for our RP but for now we still love the ones we use 😉
I don't really have a favorite actually, I do love them all, every one has his/her quirks. We tend to use the DSLRs mostly with the Sigma 100-400 and in the past the 150-600 which broke and will be replaced with the 60-600S and other tele lenses.
The R and RP are used with the walk around EF/RF (zoom) lenses.

    David,

Thanks. I thought about riding the chair lift. Maybe I'll do that next year for some good photos.

    Photobygms,

That's great you have a better half that helps with the cameras/lenses and takes photos with you. Yesterday I used three of my DSLR cameras with attached lenses at an air show and it made me more tired than I thought. One of the lenses was the Tamron 150-600mm lens, which weighs a lot. Finally after about an hour, I found a place to sit down in the grass next to the runway. I was able to take a number of these air show photos, sitting down...the best way with heavy gear. 😀

I got some good shots on my regular Friday stroll through "downtown" Vienna last week, tripping over tourists as I went. (I have every sympathy for the inhabitants of Venice, which I myself would like to visit again before too long.) Again. the new shift lens helped to get a good shot without needing to be too far away.

This is a view of St. Michael's church. In the foreground are some Roman remains, unfortunately of little interest. The house to the left of the church is where the composer Joseph Haydn was taken in by Johann Michael Spangler when, at the age of 17, he was kicked out of the Stefansdom choir, his voice having broken, and also because of his pranks. Spangler was kind enough to let Haydn live together with his own family in one of the garret rooms, until he got back on his feet.

    IMG_6976_b.jpg

One striking detail that hardly any tourists are aware of is part of the statue of the Archangel Michael above the doorway of the church. He was the one who led the fight against Lucifer and expelled him from heaven. On his shield is written, in four Hebrew letters, the name of Michael's "supreme commander", whose army he headed: “yud, hey, vav, hey”, sometimes translated as Jehovah or Yahweh. (Haydn's garret is in the background.)

    Hey, Digi!

It says you are the No.2 top poster, behind Simplejoy. I dont know how these ratings are figured: that I am at No.5 looks odd to me!

But congratulations to the two of you!
