    Steve,

You can also see two hands with the two fingers in the Shock Wave ride from one person. I didn't know precisely, but I always thought that it was a way of expressing happiness in you taking their photo. So I looked it up a few minutes ago. It has historically meant victory or peace, but now has extended to show happiness. It apparently is popular in Japan for photography poses and has extended its use throughout the world. It's also a sign of friendship. It seems more popular with the younger generation from what I have observed.

What had happened in this case, is that I was walking straight ahead occasionally take photos. I noticed to the right of me, the one on the left side gesturing with the two fingers. I turned towards them both and snapped the photo. At that moment, the girl on the right side had smiled. She also had made two fingers that are lower. I think she may have been a little surprised that I would take the picture. But I'm not shy around people, so it was an easy thing for me to do.

    David,

I'm in awe looking at the architecture. You did a great job of showing us this. You had marvelous blue sky...how beautiful. I like reading your narratives too.

    Steve,

I like the yellow color you have in those pictures. What white balance did you use? Yesterday, I saw some yellow leaves in sunshine on a tree in late afternoon. When I changed the white balance from AWB to sunny, the yellow colors looked so much better like what I see in your photos.

Steve, I also have to comment that I like the dark background too. It makes the yellow flowers stand out more.

    David,

Thanks for noticing. I hadn't checked about the number of postings. It's fun being part of this photographic community.

    Photobygms,

Thanks for replying about the fairground pictures. We only have these fairs for such a short time each summer, so I try to make an effort to see them.

    Dig,

I used the Daylight White Balance. I have read that if you want to bring out the cooler blues and yellows, use Daylight.
If you want to bring out the warmer reds and greens, use Cloudy or even Shade for a more pronounced effect, though with Shade you have to be careful not to get too orangey.
I know you can use Shade to bring out the skin tones of someone standing in the shade.

And yes, the yellow on black is pretty striking.

That's very cool about the two fingered salute to denote happiness that the younger generation is using.
It gives me hope for the future.

Nice color balance with the pinkish flower and the aquamarine blue background.

    @davidwien interesting photos.
It's a dream of mine to learn biblical hebrew and read God's word in it's original language. I've made a very little progress, but it's always difficult to find the time..

Hebrew is apparently not as difficult as it looks. I personally have difficulty remembering the alefbeit, and had the same trouble with Cyrillic, though I did ancient Greek at school with no problem. But I can translate some Hebrew. The other day I came across the term human beings in a Jewish prayer and wondered how that was expressed in Hebrew. I was proud that in the facing Hebrew text I could recognise something like "Benei Adam" (the sons of Adam).

I was very moved when I discovered God's name on Michael's shield some years ago.

Keep at it -- as I need to do. There are some good books on the subject, often available second hand:

Thanks and thanks for letting me know your favorite. With changing weather conditions, it's always good to keep on snapping. 😀
