This weekly thread is principally intended for you to show others the photos made with Canon cameras of all sorts: SLR, DSLR, Mirrorless, M-series, APS-C, film, etc. BUT all brands of camera will be accepted, including photos taken with your phone. We do enjoy reading an accompanying text explaining your photo and any special techniques you may have used. Comments and helpful criticisms on others' photos are also welcome: we can all learn something from each other. We look forward to seeing your photos.

This is being posted Saturday 10/14/23 around 7:30 pm PST time.

I will be active here while David is away, but we hope that all of you will join in and comment on each others' photos.

New contributors to this series of threads are always welcome!

Does anyone know how to edit the thread title? I made a mistake and cannot correct it. Thanks.

It should be Your Canon Photos No. 24: 15th to 21st October 2023 (not 22nd).

I wish someone knew how to edit that thread title...sorry about that.... I think David knew how to edit that.

Oh well...I'll start by showing a picture I took today under cloudy weather and some sprinkles. I'll probably show more later.

    Dig,

If you tap on the thread you started, over on the top right, there is a gear-looking icon.
If you tap on that, you can change the title.

Thanks. I was lucky to have that background. I had to take this quickly, as the bird did not stay there very long.

    Mocha,

Your photos are excellent. The first photo looks great with the blue sky and clouds. Seeing the second picture, that reminds me of ponds that we have with algae. I think that's where the ponds are stagnant. That's neat to see that butterfly. The image with the sailboats is super. I especially like the blue sailboat. You found some fungus without many blemishes...that's really nice.

I'm glad you are taking pictures under cloudy skies. I'm doing that also. Yesterday we just had a few sprinkles.

Harvest has begun now. One by one, the fields of corn are being eliminated:

    img_left tutn_0469.JPG

And leaving fields of rubble in their wake. A vulture slowly circles in the sky looking for field mice, or anything else left behind:

An obligatory shot of Mr. Horse:

    Steve,

I liked seeing the horse. The corn fields are interesting too. Do they use the corn stalks and leaves for animal feed?

    Dig,

It's cool to see the cars set amongst the trees. So many times you see older car exhibitions set in an urban parking lot setting,

    Steve,

Thanks. There are a lot of trees that surround this small parking lot. Sometimes the ISO level increased a lot when there were dark shadows.

Great shot - works really well in terms of composition, subject separation and has beautiful light!

Love the green tones in the first one and the excellent focusing and color contrast in the second image! Well done.

    Simplejoy,

Thanks. I'm glad you liked seeing the Red-winged Blackbird. I didn't get a chance to try to take this at slower shutter speeds, to reduce the ISO level. It was very dark and raining a little at times.

    Simplejoy,

I'm glad you liked playing around with the lens. That gives you good bokeh.
