Better luck next time, Steve! I quite like the first pic, anyway!

With things like this, it is a good idea to take several shots with different exposures. I wonder if doing that would have avoided the over-exposure of the lights. ISO1000 is not too high for modern cameras. Why not try again at 1/25s and then increase the shadows in post processing?
@davidwien it was pretty much a spontaneous shot. Exeter is a few hours drive away, so I probably won't be going back there and time soon. I'll remember your advice for next time I'm in a city/town at night.
@stevet1 I remember reading in a photo mag that with ultra-long exposures, a cloudy sky turns a uniform milky white.
I like these two a lot! The first has a really unique look (probably because of the added glass surface... and the second one is great in terms of experimental composition. Most of the time shots like this don't work, but I feel like this one does. I know it's not what you intended though... so I hope your long exposure works out next time!
I'm so used to classical Austrian buildings (we have a Hofburg in Innsbruck as well!) that I probably wouldn't even look twice when walking through a gate like this... However on your shot the colors really start to stand out. Well captured. Particularly the contrast with the strong blue reflections in the windows adds to the effectiveness of the wonderful red and gold tones!
This one is great as well. Wonderful choice of perspective, emphasizing the curved shape of the building!
@davidwien Got a classic building for you as well:

(Spoiler: it's the 'Albertina' in Vienna in the background...)
Also got some impressions of fall, both in color, as well as in B&W:

simplejoy,
Thank you for your encouragement.
PS: Your shots are masterful.

Dunlin,
I wrote you an extensive, and hopefully helpful private message. BUT you have that facility turned off.
Best,
David
I really like this one. Super shot.
@davidwien I didn't realise I had private messages turned off. I've turned it on now.
OK! It seems to have been sent this time!

Today was rather dark and dismal, but I went for a walk in the city -- and I saw this (for me) unique vision:
Now, I have seen stretched limos before, both in the US and here; but this one...
The moral is that one should always have a camera available. Mine was in my backpack, but because of the traffic jam, I was able to get it out in time!
David
OpenCube,
I like the colors. It kind of looks like something that was taken in an aquarium, with the light as seen through the glass. Where did you take that?
Dunlin,
That's neat. Now is the time to find those Holiday Season decorations and lights at night. I'll probably be taking a few like that also.
Steve,
I like seeing the blue sky and clouds in the first picture. Have fun experimenting with your ND filter.
Simplejoy,
In the first picture, what is that in front? I like the colors in the second photo. The last image is wonderful; I like that one a lot.
David,
Wow...you were fortunate to have been able to take the camera out of your backpack. That limousine is really extra special, with the eight wheels. It's not something you would want to miss. 😀 I've never seen one that large.
