This thread is principally intended for you to show others the photos made with Canon cameras of all sorts: SLR, DSLR, Mirrorless, M-series, ASP-C, film, etc. BUT, because you may have the opportunity of taking an outstanding picture when you do not have a Canon camera with you, all brands of camera will be accepted, including photos taken with your phone. We do enjoy reading an accompanying text explaining your photo and any special techniques you may have used. Comments and helpful criticisms on others's photos are also welcome: we can all learn something from each other!

This thread is intended to run from 21st to 27th May 2023. A new thread for the following week will be posted next Saturday around 10 pm UK time.

If you upload by means of the arrow logo near the r.h. end of the row of icons when you have the reply box open, the EXIF data will be displayed automatically below your photo. There is no longer a 4MB limit on the size of your photo, but you do have a total data limit of just under 4GB. Your usage will be indicated after you have uploaded an image, or you can click on the r.h. icon to see this.

We look forward to seeing your photos, particularly now that Spring has sprung in the northern hemisphere. So get outside and use the light provided by the sun! If your week happens to be overcast or rainy, by all means post older photos. (Or if you didnt find any of the day's photos sufficiently interesting, you are welcome to post something from the past that you are proud of instead!)

Digirame and I will be active here and are sharing the hosting, but we hope that all will join in and comment on others' photos. As I am sure we all see it, this is more about community building and sharing than showing off.

Pushing an 6D II (High ISO) in the evening and a fallow deer encounter.
Didn't expect them on that spot, but we were able to take a few photos.
Do like the results, even with the high ISO. Had to use ISO 12800 on our Canon Eos 6D mkII

    Photobygms,

That's neat. You found a way to isolate the leaf and make it prominent with the lighting. There's a nice affect seen with the background and surroundings with that depth of field.

    Photobygms,

I like your deer. Yes, since deer are often seen late in the evening, it's nice to have that ability to use high ISO in near darkness.

    SteveP,

That's a good candid of your granddaughter. She's pretty; she looks very nice with that dress. Ah yes...graduation...it's that time of year again.

High ISO works well, where we can take photos indoors without a flash.

    Dig,

I see you have been busy. Nice summery photos! Your Cowbird is much more successful than the pic I tried to take of the Blackbird! Coincidentally, our weather suddenly took a lurch and we are expecting highs in the mid 20s (~80°F) this week...

    David,

Thanks. Yes, with the sunny weather I have been extra busy taking photos. 😀 This is a little unusual for us this time of year. We usually have cloudy weather, with some showers, mixed with sun. But lately, we've had a lot of sun with little or no clouds.

This past Friday, I was walking along on a sidewalk and I happened to see this squirrel. The lighting was good. At the time I did not have the Tamron 150-600mm lens with me. I hope you like seeing this squirrel. It was a little unusual.

That is a lot of pink 😉 Wish our flowers were al like that, But still a lot has start to bloom....
Our Rhododendron is the first that has started to bloom last week

    Edit:
Is that squirrel using powerline to cross a street ?

    Photobygms,

Thanks for the reply. Because of our warm weather, a lot of flowers are starting to bloom everywhere.

That squirrel was following a wire or cable that was high above parallel to the street. I assume it was a powerline, but I'm not sure. Some parts of our area have underground wires and cables, but other older sections such as this, still have those running aboveground. The squirrels conveniently use them for travel.
