Sorry I haven't been exactly the most reliable contributor these last few weeks. It's often difficult to find the time, and recently I changed to Linux. As part of that process I wiped my 1.8tb internal drive and installed the new OS on it. The plan was to download my ~400gb photos from OneDrive, but Windows/OneDrive and linux don't really work together. On top of that, I was bitten by the bug that is "distro hopping". Anyhow, I've nearly got both those sorted out, so hopefully I'll shortly be a regular again.

It's beginnig to look a lot like Christmas

    Dunlin,

I use Linux on my Raspberry Pi and it reads data off external drives formatted with NTFS. I always keep the OS on one drive and data on others. In your case, the 1.8TB drive would appear to be more suitable for data, as an OS takes up much less space. For instance, my C drive on Windows 10 uses only 225GB of data.

So, the plan might be to go back temporarily to Windows on a 500GB drive, and then download all your data from One Drive to the 1.3TB drive. Then abandon Windows and rebuild Linux on the 500GB drive, which should be able to read data from the 1.3TB drive. Tedious, yes, but only has to be done once.

--- IF I am right -- which may not be the case. (The separation of OS and data is, however, good advice!) 😀

    Best,

    David

    David,

That's beautiful. I did enlarge the photo. Using a translator I see that Lichterwelt mean World of Lights. There must be lots of opportunities to take more photos of these lights. Below the Lichterwelt sign we can see all of these details. This is excellent. Enjoy your new toy. I hope to play with my new toy this afternoon and evening. It's fun taking pictures at night.

That's great to see the Christmas lights. We hope to see more of your photos.

    David and Dunlin,

I'm not familiar with it, but can a person dual boot to Windows or Linux from a flash drive? There's some YouTube videos on it. It sounds like a person could use either OS as a choice.

Yes you can. If your computer only has one hard drive/SSD you need to edit the drive's partitions. Like you mentioned, youtube videos are very useful.
If you can try out linux, do. It really is worthwhile.

    Dunlin,

Maybe some day I can experiment with that on an old computer (that I normally don't use). It's best to not mess up the good working computer. 😀 Microsoft seems to still want us to pay fees for some of their products or services, like it's an electricity bill. 😀 I have avoided that so far. So exploring Linux as an option might be a good idea.

Subject: More Sample Canon RP Images

It's dark early where I live, so that's partially the reason I'm taking so many photos in near darkness with the Canon RP. I hope you like these samples. I'm very impressed by what we can achieve with a full frame camera such as this.

Ah, that's a sweet looking dog. Did you let him or her out, so that he or she could play? 😀

    Steve,

I like seeing the storm clouds with the trees shown below. Yeah, we are supposed to get more rain today too. The news says we are going to get another atmospheric river.

    Steve,

For me, the non-cropped photos are best, showing mostly the clouds. I don't know why; I just like that better.
