I hope everyone had a good time. With more of the ability to use high ISO levels with these newer cameras, many of those low light scenes can be taken without a flash, as you have done. I'm doing that more also.

Thanks, as far as I know everyone seemed to have a pretty good time. Although the next day I kind of felt old and weary myself for a while, thinking that leaving home a little earlier might not have been a bad idea :D I did mostly keep the camera stowed away and focused on having fun, being first and foremost a guest. I did avoid using a flash to not disturb the low-light mood.

Temperature is about 10F -12C.

Nobody is out and about except a bunch of starlings.

The cat inside is going nuts.

That's cold. We had similar temperatures lower than 15 degrees F. I did catch one bird like you did with my normal/wide angle lens, while it was also apparently looking for food on the frozen landscape. We are supposed to get freezing rain later today. Then everything (starting tomorrow) for the rest of the week will change to rain.

Very nice in daylight as well - I really like that church and you've managed to capture it well!

Interesting that there is such a difference. I can only comment on (old) lenses but from my experience the "Leica look" definitely is a thing there, at least with some. The images made with some Leitz lenses are very detailed, but low contrast and have outstandingly beautiful transitions and OOF rendering. Apart from the lower contrast, I'm not sure that will be seen in your types of shots at distance though...

Today I grabbed a repro-lens from the 1950s, optimized for 1:1 magnification... then I got out and shot a panorama of the snow covered mountains. 😅

That's a beautiful panorama of the mountains. It's so pretty with the blue sky and the clouds.

Indeed - they're awful. They ate most of our raspberries last year. And they don't even bother finishing a single one... they eat little bits of each one until they all look awful.We cut down all of our berry plants and if they manage to grow again, I'll certainly try to defend them better this year.

Probably, yes.

I took this shot using a tablet, with the little tyke propped up on a footstool pointed out the window while I sat in a lounge chair.

My intention is to get a 10 stop ND filter for my 50mm prime lens and take long exposure photos of the sky.

That sounds good to be able to take long exposures of the sky. It looks cold in the picture. Our snow and ice is slowly melting. I was careful and did not slip and fall down once. But if I wasn't careful, it would have been easy to do that.
