@davidwien you do show the good spots in Wien. Like David we also went for a stroll in our own home town today.
But we have a small forest in our home town.
This is actually one of the oldest old-growth forest in the Netherlands. It's called Asserbos, and it's almost in the middle of the town.
Some may know Assen, but not for this forest, but for the Dutch TT. (MotoGP) at the TT Circuit or the Cathedral of Speed.

    Photobygms,

I like seeing photos of your "bos". Bosque is a similar word in Spanish that means forest also. Wow...what a great-looking photo of the small bird. You caught it with a beautiful background.

I came across these while searching for something else, and thought them worth sharing. They were taken with the amazing little Sony RX-100 in June 2021.

    David,

In the first picture, I like the fluffy white feathers we see, next to the bluish water. Your second photo reminds us to keep a look out for this new life also in the weeks ahead, in addition to more flower blooms. I just love this time of year, with longer and warmer days as we approach summer. Those storm clouds look ominous. I always carry at least one "pocket" umbrella at the bottom of my camera bag for times like that, to make sure the gear stays dry.

    Subject: Exercise Machines

On two separate times I visited a park last month to take pictures of the Hooded Merganser ducks. Here also I found these outdoor exercise machines. I've never seen anything like it, so I documented it a little in between my photograph sessions with the ducks.

Photo No. 1 - Here's two out of the three machines I saw.
    ResizedDPR1.jpg
    Model - Canon EOS M50m2
    ExposureTime - 1/320 seconds
    FNumber - 8
    ISOSpeedRatings - 400
    ExposureBiasValue - 0
    FocalLength - 20 mm
    Lens Model - EF-M15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM

Photo No. 2 - The third exercise machine can be seen on the right, from another viewpoint.
    ResizedDPR2.jpg
    Model - Canon EOS M50m2
    ExposureTime - 1/320 seconds
    FNumber - 8
    ISOSpeedRatings - 400
    ExposureBiasValue - 0
    FocalLength - 45 mm
    Lens Model - EF-M15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM

Photo No. 3 - Oh, I saw these people using the machines. Because the pond was in the way, it took too much time for me to get over there and show some people on it. They did not stay long, so I got no more photos of them.
    ResizedDPR3.jpg
Model - Canon EOS Rebel T7i
    ExposureTime - 1/320 seconds
    FNumber - 9
    ISOSpeedRatings - 200
    ExposureBiasValue - -0.33
    FocalLength - 100 mm
    Lens Model - EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM

Photo No. 4 - Here's another photo of the machines in sunlight. The color blue was brighter and I think better looking (at least to me).
    ResizedDPR4.jpg
Model - Canon EOS Rebel T7i
    ExposureTime - 1/800 seconds
    FNumber - 9
    ISOSpeedRatings - 500
    ExposureBiasValue - 0
    FocalLength - 100 mm
    Lens Model - EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM

Photo No. 5 - On another day, I'm by the pond again. I see some people on the machines.
    ResizedDPR5.jpg
    Model - Canon EOS RP
    ExposureTime - 1/400 seconds
    FNumber - 8
    ISOSpeedRatings - 160
    ExposureBiasValue - 0
    FocalLength - 105 mm
    Lens Model - RF24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM

Photo No. 6 - OK, I walk over there.
    ResizedDPR6.jpg
    Model - Canon EOS RP
    ExposureTime - 1/400 seconds
    FNumber - 8
    ISOSpeedRatings - 100
    ExposureBiasValue - 0
    FocalLength - 70 mm
    Lens Model - RF24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM

Photo No. 7 - He just stayed on it for a few moments.
    ResizedDPR7.jpg
    Model - Canon EOS RP
    ExposureTime - 1/640 seconds
    FNumber - 9
    ISOSpeedRatings - 400
    ExposureBiasValue - -0.33
    FocalLength - 40 mm
    Lens Model - RF24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM

Photo No. 8 - She looked at it with what I assume was some curiosity.
    ResizedDPR8.jpg
    Model - Canon EOS RP
    ExposureTime - 1/640 seconds
    FNumber - 9
    ISOSpeedRatings - 200
    ExposureBiasValue - -0.33
    FocalLength - 54 mm
    Lens Model - RF24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM

Photo No. 9 - Joggers would come on by, but mostly the machines were not used.
    ResizedDPR9.jpg
Model - Canon EOS Rebel T7i
    ExposureTime - 1/800 seconds
    FNumber - 9
    ISOSpeedRatings - 400
    ExposureBiasValue - 0
    FocalLength - 55 mm
    Lens Model - EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM

Photo No. 10 - Then as I was still taking pictures around the pond, I saw these people at the machines. I figured they would be gone by the time I got over there, so I zoomed in (and I cropped it a little). She apparently noticed me and gave me a pretty smile.
    ResizedDPR10.jpg
Model - Canon EOS Rebel T7i
    ExposureTime - 1/640 seconds
    FNumber - 9
    ISOSpeedRatings - 1000
    ExposureBiasValue - 0
    FocalLength - 250 mm
    Lens Model - EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM

I thought that these machines would have been used more. After all, they were free; no gym fees were required. Maybe in time, people will use them more for long periods and see less of them as a curiosity and more as a way of getting more exercise without the added cost of private gym membership.

Subject: Hard To Get Wood Ducks

A few days ago I went to check up on the Wood Ducks. I wondered if I could find any. I found some, but they were making it difficult. So I thought I would share with you all what I did. There's some depth of field issues that made some of the scenes soft in places, but I thought you all might want to see my effort anyway.

Photo No. 1 - I found a male and female Wood Duck, but they quickly swam away.
    Resized800D-DPR1.jpg
    Model - Canon EOS 800D
    ExposureTime - 1/800 seconds
    FNumber - 9
    ISOSpeedRatings - 500
    ExposureBiasValue - 0
    FocalLength - 400 mm
Lens Model - TAMRON SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD A011

    Photo No. 2 - Here's some more I saw.
    Resized800D-DPR2.jpg
    Model - Canon EOS 800D
    ExposureTime - 1/1250 seconds
    FNumber - 9
    ISOSpeedRatings - 640
    ExposureBiasValue - -0.33
    FocalLength - 329 mm
Lens Model - TAMRON SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD A011

Photo No. 3 - Good I thought...maybe I'll see more like this behind the geese.
    Resized800D-DPR3.jpg
    Model - Canon EOS 800D
    ExposureTime - 1/1250 seconds
    FNumber - 9
    ISOSpeedRatings - 640
    ExposureBiasValue - 0
    FocalLength - 250 mm
Lens Model - TAMRON SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD A011

Photo No. 4 - But I was still too far away.
    Resized800D-DPR4.jpg
    Model - Canon EOS 800D
    ExposureTime - 1/1250 seconds

    FocalLength - 500 mm
Lens Model - TAMRON SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD A011

Photo No. 5 - Then I saw these people who had their cameras out. A male Wood Duck just came by them. I should have been there with them. But it was time for me to go home, so maybe I'll find them again some day. All of this was much more difficult than the time I took pictures of these ducks on October.

The magnolia tree in the back yard has a multitude of blooms, but the coldish weather is preventing nearly all of them from opening fully. In normal years, the day after that has happened there is a strong wind and most of the petals fall on the ground! So I am monitoring anxiously for the optimum image...

    David,

I just love your magnolia tree blooms. Those blooms are some of my favorites. Often each year I try to find them. Today I noticed that the daffodil flowers are now in full bloom too. So I was thinking about getting more of those. We had sunny weather today which is encouraging a lot of these flowers to open up.
