Ten days ago, I posted this picture, taken around 5:30pm with the 28mm Leica:

    L1010793_e.jpg

Today it was quite sunny and I took this shot around 2:30pm, using the Canon RF16mm lens. I had to adjust the perspective and lighten the shadows at the bottom of the building in post processing.

    IMG_7542_b.jpg

It would not have helped to use the shift lens. One disadvantage of taking a picture straight on, apart from the street's narrowness, is that the overhang of the top of the building is not so obvious here when viewed from below. On the other hand, the detail of the decoration is shown to its advantage. Compare with the upper photo and decide which you prefer.

    Photobygms,

I'm so glad you posted some more flowers. They are so colorful. You motivated me to find some more too. It's such a nice time of year. It's just about 3 days until spring and warmer weather. 😀

    David,

I prefer the second photo that was taken straight on. The sunny conditions make it brighter and more pleasing to me. I do like those details.

@Digirame awesome eagle portraits. They look pretty impressive with the dark background.
I do think the shadow of the [cage] bar spoils #1 slightly.

@davidwien panorama looks great. I keep looking at it again, to see if I've missed anything.
I think it's pretty cool you're still getting use out of a release of PS that's over a decade old.

    Dunlin,

Thanks. Yes, the shadow of the fence "wire" spoiled #1 slightly on the beak. But in a way, it's natural to see shadows. But I would have preferred it without, as you had found. When the eagle looked up, that's when the thin shadow disappeared. I would have stayed there longer to wait for another opportunity, but I was with a group of people that were moving along from exhibit to exhibit. I didn't want to lose them among the crowds of many that were at the zoo. So I didn't wait.

I have a better portrait of the eagle without shadows, but that was on the side where the eye was missing. So I had to wait for not only less shadows, but when the eagle turned its head so we could see the eye on the other side.

Good to see you back, Dunlin!

Yes, apparently CS6 is the last version of Photoshop with a perpetual licence. I think I got CS5 in 2012. I was amazed the other day to find that it does raw processing of files from my less than one year old Leica Q3, so the data for Raw Camera is still being updated!

Some spring blossom, taken on an (unusually warm) walk this afternoon.
Shot as RAW, processed in darktable.

    Dunlin,

Super photos. I particularly like the one with the bee!

Please tell us more about Darktable and your experience and evaluation of it.

EDIT: A bummer -- the website doesnt list support for my cameras!

    Dunlin,

It's nice to see your tree blossoms. I like to see blossoms with blue sky. And you caught a bee too. 😀

It was sunny here today too -- even the weather forecast on the phone admitted it! I was out and about.

This cute picture was taken from a moving tram:

And this is the front of a German Intercity Express (I couldnt get back far enough -- i.e. to the right, as my platform ran out -- to take the whole thing in one go!)

    L1011134_b.jpg

And the rest of it. (I couldnt wait until the man was out of the way, as my train was about to leave on the other platform...)

Subject: Blue Sky, Clouds and the Moon

How often is it that we see this? Yesterday I found blue sky, some clouds and the moon. We enjoyed another sunny day, but that all ended today. We are supposed to have clouds and rain for a while. Maybe we'll get lucky and have a few more clear skies between storms.

    David,

I'm so glad you took these. I showed some I have taken from a moving car. Whether we use a car or train or plane for traveling, there's plenty of opportunities for neat photos. It is in a way, kind of stressful, because it's so hard to get good composition when moving rapidly (and you have to have a high shutter speed and be aware of the depth of field). So sometimes, it's best to take multiple pictures at the same time, and then pick the best ones. And sometimes we have to take them through glass windows.

Yes, the first one is cute. The "froggies" are all dressed up in nice suits and have big "bug" eyes. It is interesting that the writing "now you see" is in English. The train is super cool...wow...so much better than our trains. Those trains look so sleek and comfortable. I don't know if they are comfortable, but they sure give me the impression that they are.

I'm still getting a feel for dt, so I won't comment, yet.

If you're interested in trying dt, David, I suggest you go ahead regardless of what the list says. That list is auto-generated, and incomplete. I did a bit of research, and your R6 at least is supported, since 24/12/21. Link.

    Me too, minus the clouds.
Similar here; yesterday it was sunny and surprisingly warm. Today, cloudy and very misty.
