JACS,
I like seeing the large balloon. I've taken pictures of similar balloons at Lake Tahoe, California.

LeeJay,
Yes, we do go out looking for things. You can start take pictures of flowers, birds, and scenes that you may find on a hike. I found a local zoo is a good place to begin using your camera. There's lots of subject matter there.
Steve,
Excellent! You wrote that very well about going out and looking for things to photograph. I'm in awe at your ability to express this in writing.
David,
Thanks for your well-wishes. I'm up now because I can't sleep. But I'll "crash" in a few minutes. I think that is so neat that you spent a long time as a university professor (I really do). I like that you speak multiple languages too. I try to speak a little Spanish here, because it's a second language in our area. I use my cell phone to help me translate better. Languages are not my forte, so I'm glad to have this aid. At times people's eyes can light up, when you communicate to them in their native language and then you see that warm smile.
What you are doing is great....please don't change. I only expressed what I do so people understand and it doesn't mean I'm right. 😀 We are all individuals and it's nice that we are not all the same.
Photobygms,
Thanks. I do need the time to relax. I'm so active that it's hard. But my body makes me take it easy.
Everyone's use of the Like button is fine. I have to admit, I like seeing it on my photos, because I don't know if it's rubbish or not. It often depends on other people's perspective. I learned that when doing "challenges". I would see someone's pictures and not really care for it and others would like it a lot. So it just depends.
I don't know if I should use it or not. Again, I like all that people submit...just to let everyone know. 😀 When I hosted the thread "Show Your Snaps" at Dpreview, I wanted everyone to feel welcome including beginners. And I wanted more advanced people to contribute also. I was very open about that and I hope the more advanced photographers can continue to help the ones that are just starting out here at this new forum. Some people didn't like the word "snaps" and maybe that's a too humble way of expressing it. I'm happy with what you all are doing. Keep up the good work!
OK, I better go back to "crashing". I get spurts of energy and then I get exhausted. I hate this and recovery is going to be slow but things are going in the right direction.
Sorry to hear about that Digirame. I'm hoping and praying you get better real soon.
About likes, being completely honest, most of the time I hit the button without thinking about it. But I also often like when I can't think of a comment beyond a generic "cool photo". I am and always have been impressed by your ability to consistently come up with interesting, often helpful high-quality comments.
The new weekly thread is open here. Please start using it now.
