This thread is principally intended for you to show others the photos made with Canon cameras of all sorts: SLR, DSLR, Mirrorless, M-series, ASP-C, film, etc. BUT, because you may have the opportunity of taking an outstanding picture when you do not have a Canon camera with you, all brands of camera will be accepted, including photos taken with your phone. We do enjoy reading an accompanying text explaining your photo and any special techniques you may have used. Comments and helpful criticisms on others's photos are also welcome: we can all learn something from each other. We look forward to seeing your photos.

A new thread for the following week will be posted next Saturday around 10 pm UK time.

Digirame and I will be active here and are sharing the hosting, but we hope that all will join in and comment on others' photos. As I am sure we all see it, this is more about community building and sharing than showing off. The response over the first four weeks has been most encouraging.

We had about eleven participants in last week's thread, which is excellent. What I particularly like is that everyone is looking at and making comments about the others' photos. I look forward to this week's contributions.

One more architectural picture from my walkabout last Thursday. This is St Stephen's Cathedral in the centre of Vienna. The 136 m (446 ft) high steeple can be seen above the house tops from almost everywhere in the city.

    Hi Mocha,

Do you live in Cornwall, or are you just visiting? It's a beautiful county -- second only to Yorkshire, where I was born! I was particularly taken by the photo of the heather, which I miss here in the city. Thanks for the evocative photos.

    Mocha,

I just love seeing all of those beautiful flowers in your countryside. The first picture is really good, with the structure seen in the distance. It's nice to see the sunset too. You must have had a long walk. How many miles did you hike that day?

    OMG!

The kid's dead on the sidewalk and people just sit there like nothing happened?

Oh, the horror of it all!

    Hi davidwien, Thank You.

I live in the High Peak, Derbyshire and have travelled down to Cornwall over the past week, I've read that due to the wet spring and the fantastic Sun we are having at the moment Cornwall is seeing exceptional amounts of wildflowers for this time of year.

    Hi Digirame, Thank You.

The structure is an old Tin Mine, part of Cornwalls past and many of these are scattered about the County. We're staying close to the coast at the moment so it was a four mile stroll for us according to Google. 😃

    Steve,

Thanks for replying. Often children might find waiting for the planes boring, so I would imagine the child was just playing. Of course, I'm not sure what he was doing...maybe looking at ants on the sidewalk or something.

Had a tree come down in a tornado this spring.

I wondered what it would look like in black and white.

Looks like something out of a horror movie.

The second picture is cropped. I thought the pattern looked kind of cool in an abstract kind of way.

@stevet1 Love them! That just one of the reasons I still love to shoot with film (B/W) The lack of color adds a different mood to a scene.

    Steve,

It's hard for me to like B&W photography. I've taken them in color and converted them and I always like color better. It may be also with all the cloudy and rainy weather that we have in Oregon, many things are often B&W naturally and the B&W reminds me of our cold, wet and cloudy weather.

Do you have a photo of the whole tree that has come down? What other damage did the tornado do?

Thanks Mocha. This last day of the air show was so different with the clouds. It made me appreciate more the sunny weather we had on the previous Saturday.

I also thought you all might like to see those that cannot afford the tickets (or choose to not pay). At least they got to have some views of the planes. The view of the planes was pretty good too but would have been better with sunshine & blue sky.
