    Dig,

I can understand about your Oregon weather. They say that people in Seattle get depressed when the sun comes out. 😀

I went outside and took a couple of pictures for you.
The first is at 24mm in a 16:9 aspect ratio.
The second is at 18mm. I included a corner of the house where our living room is so you can get an idea of how close it came.
We were very lucky that the wind was coming out of the south. If it had been coming out of the east, I literally would not be sitting here today.
It also peeled the guttering off the side of the house like a tin can.

PS: The part of the tree on the right that's sticking up in the air went down over the hill and fell across the road. Road crews and the Sheriff's Department had to come out and clear the road and block traffic. There was a flurry of activity there for a while. 😀

    Steve,

That's too bad the tree got hit. I'm glad you are safe. 😀

    Subject: Gadwall Duck

Is this a Gadwall duck? It looked similar to a Mallard duck, but it was different enough for me to wonder. If it's not a Gadwall, then what is it? I took these pictures on May 29, 2023.

On Friday I visited the Knole Estate, a property owned by the Natinal Trust.
    OOC JPGs, resized in Digikam.

Visitors can climb the gatehouse tower.

    Hi Dunlin,

Love your photos of Knole Estate particularly the Long Gallery, was that on a tripod or hand held at 1/8 of a second. 😇

    Dunlin,

That part of the tree that came down is the part that broke off, went down the hill, took out the electrical lines and fell across the road.

Yup. There was lots of drama. 😀

    Thanks mocha.

It was actually hand held. The IBIS on my Olympus is really a valuable feature.
Though I do miss my Canon 7D, the little Olympus excels ahead in some areas.
