This weekly thread is principally intended for you to show others the photos made with Canon cameras of all sorts: SLR, DSLR, Mirrorless, M-series, APS-C, film, etc. BUT all brands of camera will be accepted, including photos taken with your phone. We do enjoy reading an accompanying text explaining your photos and any special techniques you may have used. Comments and helpful criticisms on others' photos are also welcome: we can all learn something from each other. We look forward to your participation.

Digirame and I will be active here and are sharing the hosting, but we hope that all will join in and comment on others' photos. As I am sure we all see it, this is more about community building and sharing than showing off. The response over the first seven weeks has been most encouraging.

A new thread for the following week will be posted next Saturday around 10 pm UK time.

    Mocha,

The first two scenes are beautiful. You captured the white egret extremely well. It was nice to see that you are still using the Tamron 150-600mm lens.

    Photobygms,

It's good to see the pictures from your hike. I particularly like the dragonfly in the fourth picture. It's nice & sharp with an excellent background. Seeing all of the trees, it's similar to what we have in Oregon.

    Steve,

Seeing the ISO12800, it must have been early in the morning or at dusk. Did you take this picture through your house window? I don't see deer often, but when I do, I try to capture them as you have done.

    Subject: Leaving Oregon

For a vacation last week I took a trip to Montana. We drove through the Columbia River Gorge, through the dry sections of Oregon, through eastern Washington and then to idaho and Montana. Many of my photos were taken from a moving car. It's challenging when doing it at highway speeds. You never know what is going to get in the way. A lot of the time I had to take them through the car glass, but it didn't degrade the image much as long as the glass was reasonably clean. It doesn't work well with dirty glass, which sometimes happens when traveling.

I'll start by showing the trip through the Columbia River Gorge where there were many wind mills. I found them fascinating. I hope you do too.

Photo No. 1 - While driving through the Gorge we see Multnomah Falls. That's a popular tourist attraction.

@Digirame The trees may like the trees you might find in Oregon 😉 but you got mountain ranges. We don't have that in the Netherlands,
Our highest point is a hill in the most southern part (Limburg) called Vaalserberg with a height of 322.4 metres (1,058 ft)
Your latest set pictures, I like them because it does look a bit like what we have seen in Canada on our roadtrip through Alberta and BC (Canadian Rockies)

    Dig,

Yes. The deer was taken at dusk. After living out West for a while, you learn that if you see deer feeding down in the meadows in the middle of the day, that means there is a storm coming.

That's great to hear that you all are getting some rain, to put out those wildfires. That smoke reminds me of what we had almost three years ago.

    Subject: Montana Trip

Our one week trip to western Montana was mainly to see relatives. So, we didn't get to see a lot of what you all may expect in Montana, with its high snowy mountain peaks. We had lots of clouds and some rain, so it was difficult to get nice photos. But I found the trip interesting, nonetheless.

Photo No. 1 - What we found in Montana was a little surprising. There were lots of hills and there was less trees than I thought in western Montana in places. I found these yellow flowers to be beautiful. You can see we had cloudy skies. They had lots of rain which has kept everything so green.

Photo No. 2 - I thought it was cool to capture this farm with its irrigation device. I'm not sure what you would call it. I had an extremely high shutter speed because we were traveling fast in the car. In Montana, parts of the state have speed limits as high as 80 miles per hour. The depth of field was good, so everything was in focus.

    Hi Digirame, Thank You.

There was much talk about the quality of the Tamron 150-600 G1 but I've found the Lens quality to be excellent, although I do tend to stay away from F6.3 at the long end.
