This weekly thread is mainly intended for you to show others the photos made with Canon cameras of all sorts: SLR, DSLR, Mirrorless, M-series, APS-C, film, etc. BUT all brands of camera will be welcome, including photos taken with your phone. We do enjoy reading an accompanying text explaining your photo and any special techniques you may have used. Comments and helpful criticisms on others' photos are also welcome: we can all learn something from each other. We look forward to seeing your photos.

A new thread for the following week will be posted next Saturday around 10 pm UK time.

Digirame and I will be active here and are sharing the hosting, but we hope that all will join in and comment on others' photos.

    Mocha,

I enjoyed seeing your photos of Cornwall. It such a neat place. I also loved seeing your image of the blue damselfly. I used to take pictures of them like that with my Olympus gear with a lens that was good for that. That's a pretty flower. That's a great photo of the white egret.

A follow up to Digirame's windmills from last week. There are forests of them around the road from Vienna to Hungary, near Bruck an der Leitha. It is a very flat part of the world, so there is lots of wind. These things are enormous, as one can see from the size of the pylons.

    IMG_6147_DxO-b.jpg

The best I can do of a close up. The assemblies rotate horizontally like a weather vane, to optimise the effect of the rotation of the propellors in the vertical plane.

    Fotoword,

Those pink, white, black and gray birds are beautiful. The cormorant looks different than the ones we have in Oregon. But I noticed it was a cormorant right away.

    David,

Yes, those wind mills (turbines) are enormous in size. I wonder if the blades are painted red and white, so that they are easier to be seen by birds. I understand many birds are killed each year by these wind mills.

    Steve1,

OK, keep a look out for those aliens. We expect to see photos of them. 😀 That corn looks healthy.

    Digi,

I dont know whether the painting is to alert birds, but red and white are the Austrian colours. I also dont know whether one can believe this document; but it claims that the number of bird deaths in the USA due to wind turbines is far behind those due to cell phone towers, cars, tall glass buildings, and cats.

    Subject: Sand Castles

The weekend before my Montana trip, I went to the beach to see some sand castles. I hope you like these. There's fifteen images, but I could have shown more. At events like these, I often take hundreds of photos.

Photo No. 1 - As I walked north towards the sand castles, we see these automobiles. The authorities permitted them to be on the beach because of this special activity. You can see Haystock Rock in the background.

time again for our contribution in the weekly thread 😉
We do try do go out for a hike every weekend, if the weather is reasonable. (it was)
Visited the Strubben Kniphorstbosch reserve again for a short hike.
Did have some luck with the weather, the morning started with some rain but with some friendly clouds and even some sun it was nice hike again.
We decided to hike light again (less gear) only three bodies and three lenses😏

These first few are shot with the Canon Eos R and Canon RF 24-105mm F4.0L IS USM:
Yes we did spot a deaf adder or slow worm again 👍

A great little camera, My better half does use it normally, she loves it specially with the 24-240 (and the RF 35mm macro). But if you want a similar camera you should take a look at the R8. That's a RP look a like but with a bit better specs and basically the RP follow up
One more thing she uses the RP with the extra grip (Canon extension Grip EG-E1) that will also fit on a R8

    Photobygms,

That's great to hear that you are using three cameras and three lenses. I do often the same, but mostly use two cameras and two lenses at a time. I found myself wanting to switch lenses so much, that it made more sense for me to leave the body attached to the lenses. It's particularly useful to do it that way, at events. Sometimes I also do it because I just like to play with different cameras, like between my DSLR and mirrorless ones. 😀

I liked seeing your photos. We see that you have a diverse countryside, from forest to grasslands. You must have taken a long hike.
