    Hi davidwien, Thank You.

It's funny you should mention rain at the end of that pathway we had a hailstorm it's a good job the 7D mkII is waterproof and bulletproof. 😂

    Hi Digirame, Thank You.

There was lots of Coots on the lakes and chicks of all stages those in the picture were very young. I found the Damselflies on the walk between the trees which overlooked both lakes.

I see you have given the situation some thought! The question, to which I do not know the answer, is: how far away is a rainbow?

    Dunlin,

Thanks. 😀 Nope I didn't make it to the end of the rainbow. It was gone in a few minutes, as the storm clouds moved east. I'm glad you like the non-event photos too.

    Hi SandyF,

Beautiful colours, I don't think I've seen that plant.

    Mocha,

Thanks. That intense rainbow was only there for a few seconds. It was late in the afternoon. The rainstorm quickly moved east.

    David,

I don't know how far the rainbow is, but probably where the rain is coming down from the clouds.

Here's an example of issues a person has with depth of field.

    Love the array of colours.

Today the rain stopped at lunchtime and the sun came out. So I went to see if there were any roses to photograph. Even though it was 5:30 to 6:30 pm, the sun was quite bright. The Volksgarten has produced some roses already, but mostly the beds looked like this:

    IMG_5399_a.jpg

I was using my RF24-240mm lens. The high ISO and short shutter speeds reflect the fact that it was windy and the branches were waving about...

There were some roses in good shape, and I managed a few decent photos. I am not happy that parts of the petals got over exposed.

There was some lovely birdsong; but you will have to be content with a not very good photo of the singer on the top of his tree:

    IMG_5414_a.jpg

I sat down to listen and took this photo looking towards the Natural History Museum:

I then retreated, past an enormous horse chestnut tree. (They are everywhere here!)

I have some other pictures from the trip; but I will save them for another day later in the week, when it will rain again all day!

I hope to make another trip, when there are more roses out -- of different colours.

    David

    David,

The availability of rose flowers for us, will be about the same. We might see a few of them, but mostly we need about two more weeks. That's great the rain stopped for you. We have bright sunny days now.

What's interesting for me, is to see that European architecture that we don't get here in the USA. I like seeing all of the spring green leaves too.

    Subject: Wild Rose

While walking through a forest yesterday, I saw this wild rose.

For this photo I used cloudy white balance.
    ResizedDPR1-9.jpg
Model - Canon EOS Rebel T7i
    ExposureTime - 1/100 seconds
    FNumber - 6.30
    ISOSpeedRatings - 2500
    ExposureBiasValue - 0
    FocalLength - 35 mm
    Lens Model - EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

And for this one, the white balance was the same. It was sunny but some storm clouds blocked out the sun. But so far, I don't think we got any rain.

    Dig,

Nice pix. Are we supposed to see the flower in the first one also? You guys know more about flower names than I do! I took a pic of a "mystery" (to me) flower yesterday that I will post later to test you...

I always use raw, and I believe that white balance is only used for jpgs.

We currently have 87 forest fires burning in Alberta, Canada.
The closest fire is about 110 miles away from us but this is what it's like in Calgary, the sun is no longer visible and the visibility is half a mile in smoke.

    Dear Steve,

that is terrible! And so early in the year, too. The termperatures look crazy. Hotter in Edmonton than in Calgary. And in Washington and Oregon States even hotter, according to Ventusky.com...

I suppose that, unlike here in central Europe, you havent had any rain...

    Keep safe!
