Your Opinion. Would this be too gruesome to publicly post?

Just saw this similar on Petapixel. petapixel.com/2023/07/19/photographer-captures-majestic-owl-bringing-food-delivery-to-its-babies/

It’s what birds do. I posted a photo here of a pair of osprey sharing a fish with bloody guts hanging out the dismembered head. No one objected. We are lucky when we catch such things with our cameras!

Fairly normal IMO, it's what nature does

Hmmm, but you've just posted it publicly!

In a sense, but this is a small photography forum, not a site that would ordinarily be viewed widely by the public at large.

Sanitized nature is not nature. People who object are not nature lovers and should be ignored. I have an old photo somewhere of bald eagles with red on their white heads from feasting on a deer carcass 👍

I agree. But I run into many who think the opposite unfortunately. Care to share your eagle shot?
Here's one where a Great Horned Owl took exception to this eagle and took it out fairly quickly. GH Owls can be tough as nails!

Wow, that is a sobering sight. I no longer have the specific photo I mentioned; however here are two others. The eagle shot was taken with a super-zoom bridge camera at a very long distance (hence lack of IQ). The carcass close-up had no large birds nearby when I passed, just American magpies around. I'm guessing that coyotes were the primary feasters and that perhaps the animal was left there by humans.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were left there by humans. There are lots of photography baiters out there unfortunately, which is a whole other topic.
