That was my situation 8 months ago but things have now drastically changed! I have sold my Fujifilm X-S1 despite saying I never would and I have also sold the Olympus EM5ii and lenses and have bought another Sony RX10iv. Yes I said it was heavier and bulkier than the X-S1 and the handling is still a bit of an issue but I am adapting to it, it was that amazing lens that I missed and I have not found anything in my price range that can beat it, except a RX10V, if it ever comes about. :)
Picked up a second-hand XZ-2 recently and pleasantly surprised with the sharpness and performance of this 12mb camera
Thank you Andrew
I wanted a 12mm prime lens for my Olympus EM5ii but could not afford the cost of the Zuiko 12mm f2. I came across this Meike 12mm f2.8 on E-Bay for just £125 and it was mint and never used. Anyway, I read a few reviews online and most criticised it for being too large for M43 and the lens was too soft in the corners. I still bought the lens as it was a bargain and glad that I did because in my opinion it is a great performer for the price. The construction is generally very good although there is a bit of play when mounted on my EM5ii and the aperture ring indents are easily moved in use but none of that is a real problem. So here are my first photos taken with this lens.
I think you are being very unfair to the "alternative" sites because that is what they are, alternatives, they are not trying to be an exact copy and I think this site is really good. It may not be quite as polished as DPR was but then it is very early days and I am sure this website does not have the financial clout behind them like DPR had. I still follow DPR but I also follow several other sites including this one
What does it matter? If you like this site then stick with it or not. If DPR stays then that's great and I will use both sites, if not then so what!
Wow! What an impressive bird and your photo is amazing, so much detail and so sharp :)
I have been using Topaz Photo AI to double all my photos taken with my P7000 without losing quality, so then they are massively to large to post on here. I used an online resizer for those recent photos but set it way to low. I usually use the resize option in my Photoscape X Pro editor which does a much better job :)
I am here but I posted on the new Bridge Camera category because that's what the XS-1 is classed as :)
Wow! That is a fantastic photo and I ignore all the nonsense about how many mega pixels, pixel peeping, dynamic range etc. I just enjoy taking photos with whatever camera I have. I have several smaller sensor cameras and have taken some (in my opinion) very good photos
I bought a Sony RX100mk1 from E-Bay because I was curious about the 1" sensor. I think it is an amazing camera and it is my "always in my pocket" camera. The AF is super fast and accurate, the camera body is very well made and the picture quality is excellent.
No it is some of the filters that I use when editing. I use Topaz Photo AI and then Luminar Neo for most of the editing but I also use Photoscape X Pro too which has some great filter effects including textures :)
My main camera is an Olympus EM5ii which is a fantastic camera but I also have a Fujifilm XS-1 that I still use now and then because of it's huge 24-624mm zoom lens. The XS-1 was almost my perfect camera when I first got it but I wished it had a larger sensor and better AF. I eventually managed to buy a Sony RX10iv and was blown away by the sharpness of the lens and the superfast AF and I thought I had fnally found my perfect camera but alas it was not to be. Compared to the XS-1 the RX10iv was a lot heavier and bulkier and the ergonomics just were not there for me, so I sold it but still have my XS-1. I use Topaz Photo AI and Luminar Neo to edit my photos for all my cameras and the Topaz programme has Gigapixel built in which enables me to double the file from my XS-1 (or more) so I can crop if I want and still have plenty of detail and it has given new life to all my small sensor cameras. I wish Fuji would bring out an updated bridge camera of course but I am more than happy with my XS-1 :)
Yes it is as good as they say because I once had one but sold it because I found it too heavy and bulky, however, the lens is super sharp all the way through and the AF is super fast
Great photos, I once had a Nikon D5600, it's a great camera as you have proven :)
