In the DPR forums I've been frequenting people often are asking for help, and having the exif available is an important first step in that process.

I will use VPN )
I find exif quite useless. There are many ways to achieve the same image.
There are many ways to achieve some images - and few ways (or occasionally, only one way) to achieve some images. Some of those are among the most interesting images.
But, that aside, reviewing the exif of others' photos is educational, both about the approach and style and technical aptitudes of the person wielding the camera when the image was taken, as well as about the performance and capabilities of the hardware they used and for what it tells us about alternative approaches we could consider with our own shooting.
Put there thing you find annoying or just could make the forum better.

This site is very ugly to look at!
My first suggestion:
An internet forum is a place for communication between people, okay, but it should be a safe and somehow contained space as well. I think, all pictures should be visible only for logged in users, and definitely hidden from search engines, bots, and unregistered users.
Regards!

Thanks, we will consider this. At the moment, we just want to get it up and running so we are not forcing people to register before they can see what it's got in it. Once we have a forward stable momentum, we will revisit all this.

It may save some transfer, but it won't attract new members, I think. I find that when browsing photo forums where I can't see the images I lose interest.
I think it's pretty normal to lurk at a forum for some time and get to know it before you decide if you want to sign up or not. When it comes to photo forums getting a picture of what kind of images are posted is part of that.
I like the site, but please redesign the favicon when you have time: I find it hard to distinguish among all the others when I am looking for the website. I suggest that it is too fussy.
Many thanks for considering this!
David
Odd. I find it unusually distinct. Maybe it shows larger on my screen than on yours.
I'm not seeing a threaded view, or a way to determine which post (or poster) someone's responding to.
Is there a way for that to be implemented?
Thanks
Sherm
I think the new alternating gray background for odd-numbered comments is too dark and clashes with the white background of both the even-numbered comments and the forum overall. Additionally, the text elements in light gray are pretty low contrast against it, as demonstrated here: webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/?fcolor=7A869A&bcolor=D3D3D3
Could use another iteration imo.

agreed i think its a regression from all white. kind of looks like something has been quoted at first glance plus takes away from the fresh white look.
cheers
Yeah I agree, the shade of gray is a bit jarring.
My initial impression of the alternating grey-white background was… hummm, ‘that’s a bit dark’ !
but, it (renders great) works very well when viewed on my iPhone.
It might be a bit jarring but I appreciate the separation it provides. It could be toned down, but I’ll take it as it is over what it was prior to the update.
Yes, I too appreciate the separation.
I would give it some time.
Humans are the most adaptable species, ...so they say. lol
Forgive me if this exists and I cant find it.
What I am looking for is a means of going directly to the first unread post in a thread. (i.e. the first one I havent already visited).
At present, I have to scroll down until I reach it.
By the way, I think this group has the potential to be much better than DPR ever was!
Thanks,
David

In theory, if you click on the blue icon on the LH side of the thread title (in the forum list), it should take you to the first unread. At leats that is how I understand it. I'm not sure if it works that way or not as sometimes it shows me posts from days ago that I have already seen. But I know the unread algorithm is changing, so maybe it's better now.
