Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly online community gathering on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday,e except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

"Official" posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. Thread Manager's Corner:
It was a quiet week, but then again the kitties might still be hiding after all the noise last weekend. ;) We do hope that Lexi got fed and received all the attention he deserved! :) For me the last week (and the week ahead!) might be called film week. Last weekend I was out with the Leica IIIf, then spent a couple of days with the Yashica Mat-124G. I also spent several hours looking up, and finally identifying which model of Speed Graphic I have along with the year built (1945 or '46). Mine is the Miniature Speed Graphic (2 1/4 x 3 1/4) but I've been confused about its vintage since it has a Graflok back. The back was introduced in 1949. Mine must have been a later conversion. I also pulled out the Certo and did some research on which model I have. It's a Super Dollina II. Very nice pocketable folding camera. Unfortunately, the viewfinder is fogged up, making it a little hard to frame the shot, but the rangefinder is still working just fine. (Better than the Leica, which really needs its rangefinder serviced.) So off to other things in the days ahead!

I am finally trying to put a Blurb book together with my picture of the third stage of my hikes along the Apennines crest. I found these pictures of our first Main Coon,
Supreme, or Susu. He must be quite youn in this shot.

Yes, he looks young. As I recall they also take longer than average to mature. I'm not sure how it's been for you but sadly, perhaps because they are a large cat, their lives seem to be shorter. I did have a Maine Coon named Johnnie. She wasn't a pure breed, and in fact was a cast off that I took in. I don't think she was a typical coon, although she did show some of the traits like playing with water and sitting up on her hind legs. She was rather nervous and easily frightened by sudden sounds or Mahler. ;) But she was affectionate. Many times I had to endure her grooming my head, including the use of claws when trying to grab my hair to lick! She was about 11 when she died, probably of heart failure. I'll have to see if I can find some photos of her to scan and share here. Susu looks to be a bright kitty. That was another of Johnnie's failings. She definitely wasn't the sharpest tool in the drawer.

Susu, came from a breeders. He had won a prize as a kitten, but it was discovered that he had only one testicle, which made him worthless to the breeder. We had gone to the breeder to buy a kitten, but they offered us Susu at a much reduced price. We felt sorry for him and came home with him. The other cats seemed to bully him. He was quite a bad tempered fellow at times, but travelled all over Europe with us.

Sadly missed.

Onyx will keep his testicles for one more week. After which, he ought to calm down a bit. He went to the vet for the first time Monday. We thought he was about 12 weeks old. He is a small cat. Only 5 pounds. Vet says 11-12 months by his teeth. So much for my cat age estimator....

He is now beginning to explore inside. So some pics ought to be forthcoming.

You got it! Yes he was half the price of a MC kitten.

I guess that's what they call "pet quality" instead of show kitten. But in a way you got the better bargain. For a cat or kitten to be shown they really have to have the right temperament. It sounds like he did have it for travel, he'd have to to show, although maybe not in all things. ;) The breeder didn't get what they hoped for but you got something special in a kitty.

Definitely an exquisitely marked kitty. And not a hint of fear in those coppery eyes. Perhaps there is a little hint of anticipation in them that there might be a treat coming after posing. ;)

Looking at the background, was this in a cemetery? One of the stones looks like it might be foot marker, but I can't really tell.
