    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly online community gathering on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday,e except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Medieval Kitty of the Week!

    Kitty of Como

    Before the Internet, before photography, the sharing of kitty images was a more difficult task, which might even involve carving them into stone! The Middle Ages were a rocky time (pun intended) in the history of our relationship to cats. The prominent place of the cat over the bestiary here suggests to me that this was not one of those darker times, instead one where the cat straddled the fence between good and evil. A little about those times can be found here.

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

    "Official" posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don't accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras, all cat fanciers welcome! Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, stone cold cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Tales of their lives or adventures. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Last week's purrs, #985 / DPRv #177 / Sunday Cats! #77

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    Last week was such an interesting journey. Along with cats centuries old we had street cats half a world apart, cats lazing in a sunny window, in places from a car hood to a grassy yard, or finding a cozy bed of freshly washed and dried t-shirts to snooze on. What a life they lead! :) Let's see where they take us in the days ahead.

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    A wonderful sequence! When Wesley turns from looking at the camera to looking at the shoes, you know what is going to happen next. :) I have to imagine a whole lot of patience when into capturing the action.
    Somewhat related to the post about cats in medieval times that I included at the start of this week's thread, another post by the same author highlights the cat's playfulness, and habit of leaving evidence attesting to that. ;) I suspect that a person of that era would look at these images and find the playful activity to be completely recognizable.
