Digirame is still on a short roadtrip/holiday😁

This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation

We did go out for a hike again, visited an area we have been before, but not for hiking, the last few times we were bike touring in this National Park.
This time we left our bikes at home and went out on a nice hike.

    Photobygms,

I'll show some photos later. Being that we just got back from holiday and there's so many things to catch up on, it will be tomorrow or the next day.

    Apologies.

I mistakenly posted these two photos to last week's thread. I am new here on DPRevived. I am trying for the first time to post more than one photo to the thread. I hope I don't get it screwed up.

I am a street photographer. Street has many facets. I prefer to shoot people and situations in close. In today's world many nations and localities have made photographing people and posting the photo of them on the internet where they can be identified illegal both criminally and civilly. So I have been applying some stylized effects to my close up photos so that the photo catches the essence of the person without providing enough detail to identify him/her. The posted photos here are just this sort of effort. Within the genre of street there are very strict conventions that serious street communities expect street photographers to comply with. Stepping outside those conventions is very much frowned upon among serious street photographers. So what I am posting here being radically unconventional you will not commonly see. Nevertheless, I am trying to satisfy both my wish to continue to do the kind of street I prefer and feel safe in doing. so. Therefore, though you may not like it nor see it as strictly the street you are familiar with the effort is being made to find a safe middle ground.

    Hi Catcher!

I did reply to your pictures on last week's thread. Thank you for your photos. I hope I helped explain my viewpoint on street photography.

If you would like for me to show more of my street photos, please let me know. I may be able to do that tomorrow if you request.

In addition to what I wrote, there's the question of what is street photography. I have heard people argue about that like crazy on another photography site. I like to take the broad view of that. Any photo showing anything of our society, whether there's people in it or not is street photography (not everyone agrees). Also photos of people or things of society could be taken at a park, beach, hiking trail in addition to streets or sidewalks (not everyone agrees). But generally, I think we just like to take and show photos here, without any definitions or arguments. We prefer just to show our images that we have taken. 😀

    Hi Catcher.

I thought of something else. Generally, transformation of a stranger's image for artistic purposes is generally OK in the USA if you own the copyright to that photo. However, if the stranger feels that he or she was made to look bad, or shameful with that transformation, then there could be some legal issues, usually civil and not criminal. That is what I read, but I'm not an expert in that field. So please review that, to see how that applies to where you live.

As a result, I don't alter people's image in "street photos" and show them on-line to be on the safe side.

Got it. And, agree. My experience is that those who argue the loudest as to what is street don't do street. I suppose they should be heard. But, from what perspective I've often wondered. 👍
