This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

    Subject: Lake Tahoe Meadow

On my last trip to California last month, I went hiking in a meadow at Lake Tahoe. Here's some of the pictures I got from that hike. As can be seen, in some cases there were a mixture of clouds and sun creating dark shadows.

During the weekend the weather changed a bit, temperatures went down a bit.
Still it's to dry in our country, the little bit rain we had is not enough to change the drought in nature.
But still it's nice to be able to go out for some hiking.
Visited the Groote Zand nature reserve close to Assen where we live.
Had some luck and spotted a Common slow worm, a legless lizard

Thanks Photobygms. I'll be taking another trip to California next week starting this Saturday for about 10 days. Will you be able to start the thread each Monday (the next two times)? Thanks.

You have great areas for hiking. I very much liked seeing the blue and gray moth. That's an interesting reptile. We have harmless snakes where we live on the west side of the Cascade Mountains. The poisonous rattlesnakes are on the east side of the mountain range.

I'll try not to forget to start the new thread.

    It's not a moth but a small butterfly, the silver-studded blue 😉

    Subject: Mt. Shasta

From the last California trip, here's some pictures taken from the car at highway speeds of Mt. Shasta. I had good lighting and everything was clear. Often in the summer months we have wildfire smoke, but this time I was lucky.

That also looks like a nice region for some hiking. I don't think I would try to reach the top/peak
What I read its a peak you'll need climbing gear for the John Muir Route and perhaps also for the other routes

    Photobygms,

I climbed Mt.Shasta once. We camped out on a glacier at the top. There was a full moon that night and when the moon came up, it was as big as a house.
This is a picture of me in my prime 😀 on the flank of Mt. Shasta on August 12, 1973. Somebody took this with an old Poloroid.

    Photobygms,

Yes, a person could hike around the Mt. Shasta area without going to the top. Sometimes a person has to check to see if there are permits required. There's also trails around Castle Crags State Park, right off of the main highway, just a little south of Mt. Shasta. I have always wanted to do that. Once we took our car on a dirt road at Castle Crags but the road was too narrow. I felt it was a little dangerous. I think hiking would be fun.

Photobygms, this is another area that might interest you if you wanted to visit California. There's tons of places to see like the redwood forests, but this is one I enjoyed for hiking. I was there in the summer of 2022.
