oops, starting one day late this week.

    The Weekly Landscape Thread

This weekly thread, starting on a Friday, allows us to showcase our Landscape photos and get some feedback.
Opening up discussions, not only on content, style, composition & techniques, but also on the emotion in the image, and of course about the place itself.

    It’s easy to participate

Post an image or short essay with a title and description. To make it easier to view in the forum, all comments should include the original title and at least one of the original images as a quote.

    Thread Guidelines:

    1. This thread is for sharing and developing our Landscape photography skills.
    2. Entries can be a single image or a short photo essay (2 to 10 connected images that tell a story).
    3. Give your entry a clear title and perhaps also explain why you took it, or the story it tells.
    4. Provide constructive feedback on others’ images/essays.
Try to go beyond simple praise or dismissal and explain why you like it, or what caught your eye.
      ”Likes” are encouraged too.
    5. Negative feedback and suggestions are also OK (be polite, honest, and constructive).

Giving feedback is just as important as receiving feedback, both help to improve our artistic and technical skills.

    What is a Landscape photo?

This means different things for different people. For me, it includes a wide range of photos taken outside, … from wide sweeping vistas to smaller details found along the route. Seascapes, landscapes, cityscapes, woodland shots, landscapes at night with some stars, and lots more are all OK. They could also include man-made objects and people or animals outside, but they are not usually the main subject. Show us, with your photos, what Landscape Photography means to you.

    Motivation

I love to go hiking in the natural world and capture photos along the way. It keeps me fit (physically and mentally) and provides some beautiful memories. Processing those images when I return is fun too, it often helps to enhance what I saw.

    Downloading and re-posting

It’s often challenging to verbalise comments about images. Instead, it’s sometimes easier to “show.” Unless the original poster specifically states otherwise (in each original post), participants are free to download, alter, and re-post images in replies to express their analysis and critique. Downloaded and altered images shall not be used for any other purposes or uploaded elsewhere.

Enough said,… Go out, enjoy the open air, take some photos. Bring back the memories and post them here in the Weekly Landscape Thread 😊

...looking forward to seeing your images,

    Lake Ödsee

I didn’t get out on any photo trips this week so here are some scenes from my 2019 archives,
Lake Ödsee, and the forest around it, are especially beautiful with its autumn colours in full display
    Hope you like these,...

I was going through my early images with the FZ300 and came across these two. Reprocessed them a little. Not the best camera for these sorts of shots but I like the scenes.

Nice. I realize this is NSW, but it also looks similar to northern California which is about the same distance from the equator as NSW.

Nice. Feel the peace. When was this picture taken? 1/26 sec. - that's interesting!

Elliott Bay Marina - View toward the southwest. I am fiddling with a 2nd hand (but new to me) 35/1.8G and I am enjoying it so far. Nice results for an inexpensive lightweight lens and the 35mm FOV feels very comfortable.

There's something almost luminous about this one. Beautiful.

Gorgeous light here. The textures of the trees are very distinctively Australian.

Postcard perfect series. The color in the water on the second one is sublime. Great capture of the saturation and vibrancy.

    As do I.
In the first I like the light coming in from low down on the left and that hazy background, gives a feeling of depth to this "painting"

The light in the second is crisper, the trail looks long, going on for miles perhaps, and the dog is taking a good look and making his decision.

I'm wondering what this sunset would have looked like in color.

Nice to have a light weight lens like that. I also have a 35 /F1.8 Z lens and have been meaning (for ages) to take just this lens on a trip. I sort of have the feeling it would be either too wide or too short. So I need that trip to get a better feel for what a 35 could do for me :-)

This shot has that nice long line of all the boats but does seems to have too much foreground?
Maybe you could experiment with cropping some of that to make a panorama format.

April 8 this year about 10 minutes before sunset.

Blue Hour above Mono Lake. It really was this blue in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada range. Very last kiss of light/sunset across the top of the mountains in the distance. Hwy 395 below. Not sure how I feel about the overall vibe. Maybe more contrast. 70-300mm lens.

They are all great. Colours, depth, and style. My preference is 3. There is so much to look at

    It's beautiful !
I like the framing at the top too with those branches hanging down.
Autumn is certainly one of the most colourful seasons :-)
My only slight (personal) nitpick with the image is that the chimney and it's reflection are slightly "splayed outwards" . It's just a quick perspective correction in your favourite editing program to make it straight and it then looks more natural.
