    The Weekly Street Photography Thread.

We are hoping to get your images and hear what other members think about them.
It is open to all members of the forum; members can post a single image or a selection of images on a theme in a single post. Multiple posts are allowed.
What constitutes street photography has always been debatable. There are several opinions about it, and we do not want to restrict participants. You can post whatever you deem fits into the genre; however, please be prepared to hear criticism as well.

    Guidelines:
    1. We aim to increase the popularity of street photography and encourage our fellow photographers to be more interested in the genre.
    2. Give your photo a title and include any other information you think is relevant. I personally love to know why you made this photo, what attracted you to make it, and why you like it. But this is NOT MANDATORY.
    3. A single image or a theme-based group of images are allowed. No multiple posts, please.
    4. If you post an image, that means you are ready to hear feedback.
    5. We want to hear your thoughts about others’ posts.
    6. Please keep all posts civilised and polite.
    7. Unless specifically stated otherwise by the original poster, please do not modify the images

I love this scene, with the connection between the musician and the audience, and with that separation between the interior and exterior environments. And, speaking of the latter, I would have preferred the interior with less light to enhance that inside/outside contrast...

I understand why you feel this way, but it should not really be like that. In general, photographing strangers without asking can create quite a lot of friction nowadays.
I once attended a talk by Joel Meyerowitz, and he mentioned that when he photographed people in the past, most people had no issue with it at all. In fact, he said many people felt flattered that someone considered them interesting enough to photograph. Today, however, he also believes things feel very different now.

"Wouldn't it have been good if the man had been nearer the blue sky?" That was my first thought on seeing the picture.

Thank you for the comment .. I interesting idea. I did couple quick and dirty versions of your idea of brightening the exterior

    Street Music Version 3.jpg

    Street Music Version 2.jpg

I think the brighter I make it the more it pull the focal point toward the three people walking away and while I like them I am not sure this works as well ... the day was a white overcast giving a soft light and I think the building makes the lighting situation pretty obvious ..

Interesting the contrast is greater on my screen as I modified the original before I posted it --- the posted pictures are a little muted!

The same thing happened to me and, in fact, it was almost in the bin, but I've grown to like it more over time: it's no longer “Blue”, now it's "Fallen Angel"…

    Hello again.

Yes, the idea is to emphasize the difference between the interior and exterior. At first glance, your attention might be drawn to the brightly lit exterior, but that's when you begin to explore the interior and discover the musician and his listener...

Yes, there's a lot of mistrust these days, and given what's going on out there, it's not surprising. But it's a shame...
