A rusty boat always makes for a fruitful subject. I like the symmetry in this one.

    Yes, Orchid Time.

After seeing Nigel's pictures of orchid this morning I went for a short walk on our local hill this evening, and yes, indeed the first orchids are appearing (Early Purples) along with cowslips.

There’s a lot to see and it appears quite crowded beneath the statue. I particularly liked the house with the swimming pool in the bottom left corner. :)

    Some birds and other furries
Last Sunday I lost my sleep at 6:30 after seeing a nightmare and after rolling bit in bed I decided to go out to nearby park with my camera with hope to photograph some birds. Start was not promising as I heard birds but could not get any shots but after hour or so things improved and after 2 hours I came back with about dozen shots worth of keeping.

I’m really sorry you had a nightmare but I’m glad you turned it into something very nice. I like them all but blue tit and robin shots are my favourites.

    Getting Close

I have been playing with Macro photography this week. On Sunday I went to see if the Orchid season had started. I also played around with my pencil collection.

I love orchids, and there are really nice details in your pencil photos.

I have enjoyed everyone's contributions. Here are three from last week. First, a heavy lift barge and then a train. Followed by a shot with a 2nd hand ("new" to me) 35/1.8G (pieris-japonica). I've only taken about 10 pictures with it, but I like the results I'm getting so far.

The blue glass of the helicopter. Makes post-processing so difficult.

That crane is so like a Transformer.
Superb vanishing point in the train shot.
Nice colour contrast in the Pieris shot.
