Estonian National Museum
Last weekend I was in Tartu, second biggest city in Estonia, visiting rock festival. I did not photograph festival itself but still took my OM-3 along. One of places visited was Estonian National Museum, first time, only 10 years after its opening :P I visited that location also a while back, you can see building itself in this thread: dprevived.com/t/this-week-through-your-eyes-20230729/4702/ but at that time it was late evening and museum was already closed. So finally I did one of must things for real Estonians :D
Exhibition covered period from first settlers in this area after ice age until recent days. Here is "mobile phone" from end of last century.

Self-made lawn mower from end of soviet era. There was lack of everything in soviet retail and if you wanted something you needed connections or made it yourself.

This was for me one of most fascinating items: room to exhibit different dialects of Estonian, related languages and contact languages (as shown here). Initially it was like hundred persons speaked at same time, but if you pressed one of buttons on this map other voices were silenced and only selected language was to be heard saying some text, which was also shown on wall screens. It was quite interesting to hear different dialects (which I mostly understood) and different related languages (some of which I also understood, albeit with difficulty).

Sometimes it pays off to look upwards.

Vowel machine, You press with foot to that black plate to push air through that complicated tube section and hear different vowels. Estonian has 9 vowels, one tube marked with infinity did not produce any sound.

Exhibition of chamber pots.

Kratt. This is name of agent in old era: you build it from household items, then go on full moon midnight to crossroad and call devil, give 3 drops of blood to seal contract and devil puts soul into agent. Then agent will bring you fortune: money, grain, etc or do any work you command. But you need to keep it busy, otherwise it will kill you and take you to hell. To keep it busy impossible tasks were assigned, like make ladder from bread or rope from sand, In modern days AI agents are called with this name. In this image is film prop donated for exhibition.

This is entrance to finno-ugric exhibition, showing old lifestyle of natives.

Stairs leading to finno-ugric exhibition.

These images are from Monster Chetwynd exhibition "A Feather in Your Hat!". Quite fascinating and as staff said to me, meant for small and grownups. It was quite interesting to see all these hats made from paper and glue.
