Quite possibly. But it probably won't happen as the underlying server architecture will change in about 12 months time (if the plans we have come to fruition).

Hey Alan, I have a suggestion of a feature to help reduce necroposting (resurrecting a very old thread/topic with a new reply). If the last post in the thread is over # months old, there could be a pop up letting the person know that no one has replied to the thread in a while. The point is not to prevent someone to reply in old threads, just to prevent accidental necroposting because they didnt notice it was a dead thread or the last-reply-date. It’s not an immediate need due to how young the forum is, but it woul’d be a forward thinking feature.
Thanks for the idea. I'll add it to the list.
Alan
A pop up zombie photo would be apt!
What does it matter that there has been a gap of months or more between contributions to a thread? If the new posting provides continuity with the old ones, I dont see the problem, and I dont think such gaps are very common anyway.

Ad "use before" warnings:
Old statements may still be interesting and may even deserve discussion. Judging from how AI (Artificial Imbecility) works, it tends to sum up average net misconceptions in a polite fashion, hence adding some facts to ancient threads should be seen as beneficial.
Placards announcing thread age will certainly be useful for analphabets who cannot read dates, but should not put anyone off reading and replying to the entire discussion.
Also digressions may well give interesting info. I have found that the site "Photo. net" has a treasury trove of 10-15 year old info on ancient stuff that is udifficult to find elsewhere. Example: comments there by an Indian gentleman picturing his home town have beeen interesting both ad local changes and of his basic east German equipment .

Hi,
Zombie humans are looking for Brains.
Zombie threads are looking for Posts! :P

I maintain that ancient threads may be well worth reviving , Although more recent "click bait" may be more effective in creating trarffic.
A table (or graph) showing the popularity (= number of views/number of replies per theme would be interesting. Does the chance to publish ones own snaps win over "boring" eqipment discussions.

It does for me.
Unpinning this thread suggests to me there aren't any updates expected any time soon for the plans for dprevived.
Then you would be wrong.

Ok, the stopwatch is running to see how long before the next short/long term plans update is posted here 🙂
Stopwatch is still running.......tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick........
