What a zany, wonderful and artistic display of that clutter. The photo reads almost like a music score or a script in an indecipherable language. The fishing boat, the buoy, and the rig are the punctuation, just enough outside of focus to be a part of the backstory. Their placement is part of the success here. The trash left behind by human use is transformed into delicately balanced art, then abandoned, but the mundane human functions of the sea continue: fishing, shipping, oil or gas extraction.

Pleasant image of a modern coastal city, enhanced by a wonderful sky worthy of a landscape painting. My favorite part is the way the white skyscrapers are reflected in the water.

It seems to have a slight color cast. I am not very good at identifying those visually but maybe magenta? Or it could be a cast deliberately introduced for artistic purposes...

The ferry/pleasure craft is a key to this capture. The colours almost match the boat vs signs on the buildings.

I would almost call it "stranded ". Docu shot, so typical of Cuba. I understand they have a lot of American cars from '50's still in operation.

Very nice abstract from my favorite abstract subject: rust and grime on old surfaces. It has the look of a desiccated structure by the sea or maybe a shipwreck artifact. The colors make a pleasing color palette of complementary and contrasting color, and the texture is great too.

I may have mentioned before that I have a 95 year old photography friend who last year did a gallery show completely comprised of close up shots of rusted dumpsters.

The similarity between the two shapes is mildly amusing. Mainly, I want to see whatever it is that has the photographers attention.

Putting the up/down shots together is cool. A more extensive collection of studies of a city looking up and down could be a a good project.
The slash in the facade of the building is dramatic. I like the "takes" in both 1 and 2 although I prefer the slightly darker and more contrastiy exposure in 1.
This is a personal thing of mine and others may not agree. In a collection of shots, I wouldn't mix colour and B&W no matter what the subject matter.

Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong skyline are dream subjects for photographers. The problem with them is that they have been photographed so often and in so many different ways that it is difficult to get a shot that has impact.
To me, the contrast in colour and shape between the previous era cruise boat, the modern buildings and the hills behind, is a lot more interesting than shot 1. Suggestion. Try a considerably tighter crop around the boat with only a small amount of water below it and only a very small amount left and right of the boat and not much sky above the buildings.

No new photos this week so I played Lightroom Catalog Roulette and it landed on this image from Cuba. Shooting from a local Cuban bus had many challenges - angle, framing, lighting, messy windows, but I held onto most of them because I knew I'd likely never get there again. New noise reduction tools helped out with this, but alas, the framing can't be improved.

    PB171357.jpg

The photo captures the moment; in my opinion, the framing is fine.
Unfortunately, it made me think about the miserable living conditions of the people in Cuba.
