Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly online community gathering on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday,e except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

"Official" posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time will almost always vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don't accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras, all cat fanciers welcome! Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Tales of their lives or adventures. Thread Manager's Corner:
Thanks to the wonderful images from last week it made it very challenging to pick just one to start the new week. It's worth revisiting last week to enjoy the others again. :)

Speaking of revisiting, it's time for last call on the Sunday Cat! hat. :) I plan on assembling the order Sunday night and contacting the vendor on Monday to place the order after verifying they can deliver to the international addresses. I'll let you know if there are any issues.

Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.

I went through some old pictures to find some reminders of the past.

This is Tiger, a stray who jumped into my car, and never left us for 18 years back in 1988

We had our Honeymoon in Liguria. The Cinque Terra, was still a collection of quiet fishing villages. Lots of cats around the fishing boats.

From several years back. One of my daughter's cats and I have forgotten the names of most of them including this one ......

Lexi likes his turn at the track toy. Arni thinks the toy is his
territory as he was the first to find and use it. So anytime Lexi
is playing with it, Arni decides to take over. The boys are not sharing-
I suppose their mothers never taught them how to share.

Tiger's story reminds me of the story of one of Lynne's cats, Jackie. Her mother drove home one day from the church where she volunteered and mentioned to Lynne that the car was making some strange noises. In checking it out Lynne discovered a kitten, that must has ridden home with her mom somewhere in the car's undercarriage! Thus, Jackie joined the family and I believe was around for the next 16 years.

Old photos have a way, at least to me, of becoming more precious over time. Preserving a fleeting moment that would otherwise be lost and will never be again. These seem to be of that nature.

I particularly liked one of the Japanese ones, Masayuki Oki. His website says he only photographs cats. He seems to capture some amazing moments with them.

I think this kitty's name was Milo. I remember his unusual ears, which really got my attention. He was a handsome guy.

Sharing? Sharing! Whatever gives you that idea? Cats don't share. They own it all! If you want to get cats to "share", get Lexi his own track toy! ;)

I like how they have so tastefully arranged themselves with the pillows. Who says cats don't have an artistic sense. ;)

We have a new box.

The old box became too ratty and had to go. But I recently received this new, larger and heavier, box. Right after this shot, Jack jumped in and wrestled (literally) the box away from Doris.

Edit: They won't be flipping this one over. All three can fit in should they want. And, I can pick up all the other toys into the box for cleaning the floor.

Edit 2: now a couple hours later.... Found Sammy snoozing on the cat tower.

Found Jack snoozing behind the fan that moves air from the bedrooms down the hall into the living room.

But, I can't find Doris. I know she didn't go outside. So, where oh where can she be??

A box!!!! The best kitty gift of all! :)

My son was appreciative of the recognition Maarten received over the past two weeks, and sends us this offering of Cowboy, Maarten's adoptive cat brother who is still going strong and ruling the roost in Maarten's and Pearl's absence. Cowboy, who you've met before, is a street fighter from Nashville who was rescued and domesticated (more or less) then adopted.

Yes, I have been duplicating my old slides, and it is amazing how things have changed. My pictures of Italy from about 1990 seem like another world.
