To me they look bit surprised. Second image looks bit unbalanced with animals on right side and animals looking also to right side, framing bit right would have resulted in bit better balance IMO.

Love this image, the lighting here accentuates nicely tree canopy.
I think the first Smithills Woods shot wins out here.
Great pictures and I always enjoy your detailed travelogues - very interesting. Making a wrong turn and finding something by accident --- that's often the best! And then a friendly local who provides exclusive access... wonderful. I see it on the map. It says... "S. Maria Assunta" (the church). Yes, the road is very narrow. What fun!
B&W is perfect for this.
The ICM hits the sweet spot here!
LOL!!!! Those are great. I'm glad you were able to... "sneak inside and get my camera" (we've all had that same experience). Excellent IQ.
I also Very Much enjoy your travelogues (similar to NCV). This is outstanding! Beautiful. Thanks for taking your long walks with the camera!
To your first point... yes indeed, I agree!!! We get out and DO... and then life presents itself. A hobby. Something that we enjoy. And your second point... I concur again. The phones are excellent nowadays and sometimes I wonder why I lug around a backpack full of gear. But then I get to the PP stage of the process... and I realize why I do it. Still... for close-in stuff and "iffy" lighting (i.e., indoors/night/restaurants, etc.) the phones are hard to beat. 3M tape? What kind of a "repair" was it?
I need to check this artist out. Nice shots, you captured musicianship and interactions very well. But seems like you had fixed seat on right side, it can be bit limiting, especially as most of guitarists are right-handed and you will be shooting guitar head (or neck in case of headless guitar) quite often instead of body.
Great travelogue!
I enjoy seeing these landmarks of yours from an unfamiliar angle. I always look out for Winter Hill mast when travelling up and down the M6 and think of you! 😁
I always find these creatures rather sinister. You've captured that well here.
The collar was slipping which meant the telescopic barrels wouldn't retract.
Jazz Alley - Something a little different. Vincent Ingala Band (May 12th). It was an amazing show. They burned the house down! In 25+ years of going to Jazz Alley, I don’t believe I have seen a finer performance from top-to-bottom. The musicianship and the overall virtuosity... incredible.
Incredibly clean images. Really well done. It's great when a live band grips you.

It is interesting, knowing that they are not "out to get anyone" sinister, eerie nor scary. Knowing what I know, the comments have made me look again and they are not the best images at showing these animals in their true light - it certainly wasn't my intent. I now have a task ahead of me to do them justice...

I'm going shop for the first.
And for the second, he's had his eye taken by the hot stone statue.

Shop. I saw things like this when I had a project in Mexico some years ago, where work took me to places the tourists do not go.
The child sleeping on the trolley is pretty curious and a bit sad.

As one who loves Jazz, I liked these as you can feel the music in this set, via the poses of the musicians.

Serchio valleyThe Serchio valley runs north from Lucca. It was my road home to Reggio, which involves a steep climb along minor roads up and over the Apennines. It has some interesting Romanesque buildings hidden away in small almost inaccessible hamlets. I have posted pictures of this area before here.
Piazza di Brancoli is at the end of a long winding single track road lost in woodland and olive groves. This little church has some marvellous carvings. I was about to go when a local lady passed by. She asked me if I wanted to see the inside and fetched the keys and let me see inside. I found this place by accident, as the Sat Nav did know my destination and I was using road signs and I had taken a wrong turning on my way to another site.

It was not fun when I met the local minibus, and a couple of courier vans, on the single track road!
Rural Italy is the most enjoyable way of doing tourism in Italy, as the people are generally pleased to have somebody come and take an interest in their their village.
I was stood a couple of meters in front of this view for this shot.
