Nice shapes but I'd crop the left to provide symmetry.

A good record of a very pretty village. This gate is as mad as the one I posted a few weeks back.

Sounds like a plan but I'd also have to factor in a Nikon camera :-)

No, a €10 filter ring adapter from Amazon, and it will work perfectly with a Sony camera and a Sony mount 50mm macro lens. Kaiser make a generic version, with a 52 and 58mm filter thread fitting, but it only has a carrier for slides.

The color/tone plus the reflection and low angle are great.

EXCELLENT! Very well done. I also have the ES-2 and I use it with the 60mm 2.8 lens. Much better/faster, more convenient, and higher quality than the scanner I was using a few years ago (even though it was a top-of-the line scanner).

I like the variety and the colors. I'd like to visit the folks in the house with the boats in the window... I'm sure we'd get along! LOL. Thanks for the tour! I will have to look-up the (Swedish) fairy-tale books I had as a child and check the author.

The deep history... very interesting. My dad planted a pink hawthorn for my mom in the yard where I grew up. I remember it.

Ah! I see how it works now. I assumed the gizmo fitted onto the lens mount like the Ohnar did. Wonder if the Sony has a negative digitizer setting - that's really cool. I need it firstly for my Kodachrome slides but might dabble with negatives later. I have some plastic and card mounts on them, are they too thick? Seems a shame to have to remove each slide from its holder.

Update - Sony doesn't but there are Lightroom plugins available.

SEAFAIR HYDROS: From a week ago (Sunday) here are a whole bunch of images (much more than I usually post). The annual hydroplane race has a 75+ year history in Seattle (first race was in 1950). When I was a little kid, it was the biggest summertime event BY FAR. In the mid/late-1960's, all the boys made little wooden hydros, tied them with a string to our bicycles, and pulled them around the neighborhood. It was the best of times. There are 8 pictures of the active racers and 7 pictures of the vintage boats (exhibition). As I said, a lot of pictures. Sorry for the volume/quantity, but it was hard to weed them out and hard to guess what might be of interest to others. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough reach (max. 400mm) and I should have increased the shutter speed as some of the pics were not as sharp as they should have been.

I think these pics where the background is hidden make the best shots. That looks fun. The boats took me back down memory lane to a kid's TV show I loved called stingray. Don't think you had it across the pond.

seems familiar place with new subject. I'd preferred runner to be bit right but otherwise great shot with nice evening colours and perfect reflection.

Great shots of past, these film shots have different colourization and feel.
I don't think that such Humpty Dumpty on fence is allowed nowadays.

This looks like scene from movie where building in front had accident, now laying down and 3 other buildings are bending over and trying to assess condition.

Such a characters. It would be great to photograph them at dawn or sunset, with light hitting these twisted trunks.

I think that car was advertising cafe on opposite side of that road seen on photo, that cafe is looking similar to one painted on side of car. I realized only later that I should have taken this photo from other angle to get that cafe and car into same shot.

Rockets on water... I think that some blur is acceptable in such shots, gives better impression of speed.

    Spectacular!

We live just a few miles from Conniston where Bluebird ran in the 50s and 60s. It has been restored and was due to run again this summer but it was the (one) week when the weather was windy and wet so only ran at very low speed. 😏

Thanks for the comment and the history (link)! Yes, I am aware of the Bluebird (as well as the land speed records set in the 1960's) since I was a little boy growing up at that time... and everything, it seemed, revolved around engineering... aircraft, boats, cars, rockets, etc. The current H1 hydroplanes (190 MPH top speed; 305 km/h) are not as fast straight line as the Bluebird... since they need to navigate a closed course (~2.5 mile rectangular oval). There are typically 4 to 6 boats racing in each "heat" -- and a lot of the action is "sponson-to-sponson" -- so it is pretty exciting to watch. They are powered by surplus military (helicopter) turbine engines (Lycoming T-55 L7) @ 3000 HP. The old "vintage" boat pictures that I posed... those are from my "little-boy" days in the 1960's and back then they used surplus WWII V-12 piston aircraft engines (supercharged) Rolls-Royce & Allison (Rolls dominated) making up to ~2,000 HP (compared to a duty-rated 1,000 to 1,500 HP). And they were LOUD (we called them the "thunderboats") which was a totally different experience compared to the modern-day turbines. Of course, pushed that hard, the piston engines tended to break down during the race (not the case with the turbines) but that also added to the excitement. Oh no! The Miss Bardahl threw a rod on the last lap of the championship heat! Which broke my heart in 1968. Now, when they bring out the vintage hydros (exhibition) they are only running at 1/2 power... MAX. But... they are STILL loud. :-) Brings a tear to my eye.
